Record of Official Proceedings of the Common Council
of the City of Rochester, Minn., September 14, 1971
Minutes of a special meeting of the Common Council of the City of Rochester,
Minnesota held in the Council Chambers in the City Hall, in said City, on September 14, 197
President Postier called the meeting -to order at 5:00 o'clock P.:M:, the

following members being present: President Postier, Aldermen Kamper, Larson, Mayer,
McNary, Strain.
The call of the special meeting was.read and President Postier-ordered-the same;
placed on file, the said meeting having been called for the purpose of considering award
the contract for the 9th Street Southeast grade crossing and any other business the said
Common Council may deem proper.
A motion was made by McNary, second by Kamper, that Mr. James R. Powers of
1416 Berkman Court be appointed as Alderman of the Fourth Ward, effective September 16,
1971;.all present voted in favor.
President Postier then appointed Alderman Mayer as Chairman of the Public
Works Committee and Mr. Powers as a member of the Public Works Committee and also a member
of the Public Safety Committee. Upon motion by-McNary, second by Kamper, and all present
voting in favor, the appointments were approved.
Upon motion by Strain, second by Larson, and all present voting in favor, a
resolution accepting the bid of Riverside Sand & Gravel Company for Phase II of extension
of 9th Street Southeast from 3rd Avenue Southeast to South Broadway with necessary
utilities was adopted. (City Clerk instructed to prepare contract).
Upon motion by Larson, second by McNary, and all voting in favor, the meeting
was adjourned.
