HomeMy WebLinkAbout03-31-1975Agenda Item A-1 E-1- RECORD OF OFFICIAL PROCEEDINGS OF THE COMMON COUNCIL CITY OF ROCHESTER, MINNESOTA Special Meeting No '35A - March 31, 1975 The special meeting of the Common Council was held in Room 4, in Cith Hall at 4:45 P.M. March 31, 1975. President Postier called the meeting to order, the following members being present: President Postier, Aldermen Kamper, Larson, McNary, Powers and Strain. Alderman Ludowese was absent. President Postier read the call of the special meeting which was called to consider an application for an auction license for Wally Laumeyer for April 6, 1975 at the Holiday Inn South, Rochester, Minnesota and any other business the said Common Council may deem proper. Larson moved, Strain seconded to approve the minutes of March 12, and.March 17, 1975. Ayes (7), Nays (0): Motion carried. Strain moved, Powers seconded to approve the request for an auction license received from Wally Laumeyer, Inver Grove Heights, Minnesota to conduct an antique auction at the Holiday Inn South on April 6, 1975. Ayes (6), Nays (0). Motion carried. E-2 Strain moved, Powers seconded to approve the application received from JoAnne L. Hvamstad 1209 4th St. N. W. to,operate Lolita's Sauna located at 301 1/2 North Broadway, Rochester, Minnesota. This was formerly known as Imperial and E1 Cid . Ayes (6), Nays (0). Motion carried. E-3 Kamper moved, Powers seconded to adopt the prepared Resolution No. 106-75 'approving the amendment to the original agreement between the Governor's Manpower Office ( Prime Sponsor) and the City of Rochester ( subgrantee, which increases the funds available to the Cii by $35,394 and direct Mayor and City Clerk to sign said agreement, and.di-rect the City Administration to accomplish whatever changes are necessary to the.:City's original application for CETA funds to complei the desired amendment and forward the same to the Governor's Manpower office. Ayes (6), Nays (0). Motion carried. H-1, The City Clerk stated that the League of Minnesota Municipalities notified her that a sub -committee composed of 15 members were going to meet on the bill regarding the uniform election. The Council is opposed to this bill, and the League suggested that a member, or a written opposition be taken to this committee to further support our position. Larson moved, McNary seconded to instruct the City Attorney to prepare a Resolution opposing the election being held in November at the time of the general election. Ayes (6), Nays (0).
