Minutes of a special meeting of the Common Council of the City of Rocheste
Minnesota, held in the Council Chambers in the City Hall, in said City, on May,
1st, 1941.
President Lemmon called the meeting to order at 5:00 o'clock P.M., the fo
lowing members being present: President Lemmon, Aldermen Anderson, Bowers, Hansor
Mrachek, Williams, and Yaeger.
The call for the special meeting was read, and President Lemmon ordered
that same be placed on file; said meeting having been called for the purpose of
considering the application of Lawrence E. Lysne for a House Mover's license and
for a permit to move a house from the site of St.Marys Hospital to a location
approximately two hundred feet east of Fourteenth Avenue Southwest on Sixth Street
Southwest.
.The application of Lawrence E. Lysne for a house mover's license, and his
bond in the sum of $7,500.00 with the Western Surety Co4any as surety were read,
and on motion by Williams, second by Anderson, the license was granted, the said
bond approved, the surety thereon accepted, and it was ordered that the bond be
placed on file.
The application of Lawrence E. Lysne for a permit to move a house -owned by
Richard M. Lawler from the site of St. Mapys Hospital, west on Second Street to
the State Highway No.52, thence south on Highway No.52 to Seventh Street, South-
west, thence East on Seventh Street Southwest to Fourteenth Avenue Southwest,
thence north on Fourteenth Avenue Southwest to Sixth Street Southwest, thence east.
on Sixth Street Southwest approximately 200 feet.
On motion by Williams, second by Bowers, the permit was granted.
A communication from the State of Minnesota, Department of Highways,
ranting permission to Lawrence E. Lysne to move a building for Richard Lawler of
ochester, Minnesota, over State Highways No.52 from Second Street Southwest
outh to Seventh Street Southwest was read, and President Lemmon ordered that
ame be placed on file.
A communication from the League of Minnesota Municipalities announcing the
ourteenth Northwest Fire School was read, and on motion by Mrachek, second by
anson,,the Fire Chief, and, if possible, such members of the Fire Department who
ave not previously attended a Fire School and who could be spared at this time,
ere authorized to attend the School at City expense.
On motion by Anderson, second by Bowers, the City Clerk was instructed to
ublish a notice of the call of the City of Rochester City Hall Improvement Bonds,'
umbers 82 to 180, both numbers inclusive.
The application of the Southern Minnesota Broadcasting Company to conduct
wo public dances on May 3rd and loth, was read, and President Lemmon ordered that)

Alderman Anderson introduced a resolution granting two public dance permits
to the Southern Minnesota Broadcasting Company for the Rochester Armory, May 3rd
and loth, 1941, and fixing the fee at $3.00 each, which was read.
Upon motion by Mrachek, second by Hanson that the said resolution be
as read
adopted/, provided that handbills advertising the dances be not distributed on the
streets, and all voting in favor thereof, President Lemmon declared the said reso-
lution duly passed and adopted.
On motion by Williams, second by Hanson, the City Attorney was instructed
to prepare an ordinance, leaving the amount of fee blank,which would license
machines used for the vending of soft drinks, milk, candy bars and other merchandi
