RECORD OF' OFFICIAL PROCEEDINGS OF THE COMMON COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF- ROCHESTER, MINN., March 13, 1942
Minutes of a special meeting of the Common Council of the City of Roch-
ester, Minnesota, held in the Council Chambers in the City Hall in said Ci.ty, on
March 13, 1942.
President Lemmon called the meeting- to order at 1:00 o.' clock P. M. , the
following members being present: President Lemmon, Aldermen Anderson, Hanson,
IMrahhek, Williams, and Yaeger. Absent: Alderman Bowers.
The call, of the special meeting was read, and President Lemmon ordered
Ithat same be placed on file; said meeting having been called for the purpose of
(receiving the report of - the appraisers appointed to make an apprisal of that tract
Iof land which lies between Fifth Street Northeast and Sixth Street Northeast, and
East of the Chicago• Northwestern Railroad tracks, and any other business the
lCommon-Council may deem proper.
The following report was read, and President Lemmon ordered that same be
1placed on file:
"Honorable Mayor and Common Council
Gentlemen:

We, the undersigned committee, appointed to make
an appraisal of that tract of land which lies between Fifth
Street. Northeast and Sixth Street Northeast and East of the
Chicago Northwestern Railroad Tracks, do hereby report that
we made a personalinspection of the property and have
appraised the same at the sum of $6500.00.

The following resolutions passed and adopted by the Board+of Park
Commissioners -on March 13,19h2, were read:
"IWHEREAS on March 1,0, 1942, the Board -of Park Commissioners of the
City of,"Rochester, adopted a resolution recommending the sale of the following
described property:
Beginning at the southeast corner of Lot 1 Block B of New Sub -
Division of Block 75 of Original Plat and Block 30 Northern
Additi.on,.thence east two hundred and. forty feet (2401) along
the north line of Fifth Street Northeast, if extended east,.
thence north parallel to the east line of First Avenue North-
east to the south line of Sixth Street Northeast, if extended
east, to th;e Chicago Nor.thwestern spur right-of-way, thence
in a southerly direction along the east line of the Chicago
Northwestern spur right-of-way to the point f beginning. 0 o e nnin

AND WHEREAS, a communication was directed to the Common Council of the
City of Rochester advising them of the Boards plans and asking said Common
Council, of the City of Rochester,, to appoint appraisers to examine and place a
�value.on the above described property, and
WHEREAS, the Common Council of the City of Rochester, Minnesota, did
on March 11, 1942, appoint M,r. Harold Whiting, Mr. Amiel L. Glabe,- and Mr. F.L.
Josselyn to appraise the above described property, and
WIiEREAS, said appraisers did on March 12, 1942, duly appraise and value
the heretofore described property at the sum of $6500.00.

BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Park Commissioners of the.City of
Rochester, Minnesota, that the appraisal of the above described property, as set
forth above, be and is hereby approved.°
it WHEREAS', on March 13, 1942, the Board of Park Commissioners, of the
City of Rochester, Minnesota, did duly approve the appraisal price of $6500.00
on the following described property:
Beginning at the.southeast corner of Lot 1.Block B of New Sub -
Division of Block 75 of Original Plat and Block 30 Northern
Addition, thence east, two hundred and forty feet (2401 ) along
the north line of Fifth Street Northeast, if extended east,
thence north parallel to the east line of First Avenue North-
east to the south line of Sixth Street Northeast, if extended
east,. thence west along the south line of Sixth Street North-
east, to the Chicago Northwestern spur right-of-way, thence
in a southerly direction along the.east line of the Chicago
Northwestern spur right-of-way to point of beginning.
BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Park Commissioners that the sale of
the above described property be made -at appraisal price as set; and that the'
action of the Board of,Park Commissioners, of the City of Rochester, be submitted
to the Common Council, of the City of Rochester, Minnesota for approval."
Alderman introduced the following resolution,approving the
action of the Board of Park Commissioners:
"Be it resolved by the Common Council of the City of
Rochester, Minnesota:
That the Board of Park Commissioners of the City of Rochester, MinnesotE
be and the said Board is hereby authorized and directed to sell the tract of land
as described in the following quoted resolution of the said Board of Park Commis-
sioners;
1WHEREAS, on, March 13, 1942, the Board of Park Commissioners, of the
City of Rochester, Minnesota, did duly approve the appraisal price of $6500.00
on the following described property:
Beginning.at the southeast corner of Lot 1 Block B of New Sub -
Division of Block 75 of Original Plat and Block 30 Northern
Addition, thence east two hundred and forty feet (240' ) along
the north line of Fifth Street Northeast, if extended east,
thence north parallel to the east line of First Avenue North-
east to the south line of Sixth Street Northeast, if extended
east,, thence west along the south line of Sixth Street Northeast,
if extended east, to the Chicago Northwestern spur righ-t-of-way,
-"'thence in a southerly direction along the east line of the
Chicago Northwestern spur right-of-way to the point of beginning.
Be it resolved by the Board of Park Commissioners that the sale of the
above described property be made at appraisal price as set; and that the
action of the Board of Pakk Commissioners, of the City of Rochester, Minnesota
be submitted to' the Common Council of the City of Rochester, Minnesota, for
approval.'.
Be it further resolved, that the Mayor and City Clerk of the City of
Rochester, be authorized and empowered to execute and deliver a deed to the above
described property, and to execute and deliver any other necessary papers to prop-
erly perfect the transfer bftitle.11
Upon motion by.Williams, second by Hanson that the said resolution be
ladopted as read, and all voting in favor thereof•, President Lemmon declared --the
(said resolution duly passed and adopted.
Upon motion by Williams, second
by Hanson, -the meeting -was adjourned.
City Clerk
