HomeMy WebLinkAbout08-25-1942I RECORD OF OFFICIAL PROCEEDINGS OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROCHESTER, MINN., August 26, 1942 651 Minutes of a special meeting of the Common Council of the City of Roch- ester, Minnesota, held in the Council Chambers, in the City Hall, in said City, o Augus t 26, 1942. President Lemmon called the meeting to order at 5:00 o'clock P.M., .the following members being present:, Lemmon, Fryer, Hanson, Nass and Yaeger. Absent: lAldermen Williams, and Mrachek. Upon motion by Fryer, second by Hanson, the minutes of the meeting of (August 3, 1942, were approved. The call of .the special meeting was read and President Lemmon ordered that same be placed on file; said meeting having been called for the purpose of considering the approval of lists of Election Judges to.serve in the various elec- tion districts in the City of Rochester, as submitted by the three major parties, and any other business the said Common Council inay,deem proper. Upon motion by Fryer, second by Yaeger, the lists of Election Judges las submitted by the.Chairmen of the Democratic, Farmer Labor, and Republican par - (ties, were approved. The Mayor's appointment of Francis E. Merry as special Policeman for duty at the Armory building in the City of Rochester, Minnesota, was read, and upo" motion by Fryer, second by Nass, the appointment was approved. . The recommendation of the Firemen's Civil Service Commission'that Robert ILaack,• Gordon Tupper and -George H. Davis,. be appointed for probationary service Ion, the Fire Department was read, and upon motion by Nass, second by .Fryer, the (recommendation was approved and same was ordered placed o•n file. A notice of claim for damages in the sum of $250.00 from the City of Roahes.ter for loss and in -juries sustained by reason of Minnie. C.. Keller. falling on the si•dexalk at approximately 1,12 - .114. Second Avenue Northwest on July 23, .1942, (was read, and President Lemmon referred same to the City Attorney., The application of C. R. Briese fqr a Journeyman Electrician's .License (was read and •sam,e was. referr.ekd to the License Committee. „The application of Helmer Rude for Public Automabile Camp License was (read, and upon motion by.Nass,.second by Yaeger, the license was granted. The applications.of Ross Phill for 3.2 °On.Sale° and 3.2 "Off Sale" anon -intoxicating Malt Liquor Liaenses, were each read, -and upon motion.by Nass,. Igecond by.Fryer,.the licenses were granted. The applications of William Shea and C. R. Hutchinson for license to jsell•cigarettes at retail, were each read, and upon motion. -by Hanson,•second by INass,.the;licenses were granted.
