HomeMy WebLinkAbout06-11-19842230 RECORD OF OFFICIAL PROCEEDINGS OF THE COMMON COUNCIL CITY OF ROCHESTER, MINNESOTA Special Meeting No. 2 - June-11, 1984 Agenda Item A-1 President Postier called the special meeting to order at 4:30 P.M., the following members being present: President Postier, Aldermen Allen, Bluhm, Duffy, Powers and Strain. Absent: Alderman Solinger. The call of the special meeting was read by President Postier, the same being called for the purpose of awarding the bids for the Recreation Center Improvements and the establishing of a new precinct for the voters in Second and First wards, and any other business the Council may deem proper. E-1 Bluhm moved, Powers second to adopt Resolution No.326=84' accepting the low bid for the Recreation Center additions as follows: Resolution No. 306-84 awarding a low bid to A.J. Lysne for General Construction in the amount of $1,310,000. ( Base bid ). Resolution No. 307-84 awarding the low bid to Kirckof Plumbing and Heating for the Mechanical Construction in the amount of $755,200.. Base bid and Resolution No. 308-84 to M & M Electric for the Electrical Contract in the amount of $176,000. ( Base bid ). Ayes (6), Nays (0). Motion carried. Comments by the Council consisted of Alderman Strain questioning the use of the entire contingency to afford this project. Mr. Curtis Taylor, Director of the Park and Recreation stated that it was true, all the contingency would be used, but that it would be replaced with donations. President Postier also commented -that the contingency was used at the end of a project, not the beginning. Mr. Taylor agreed and again stated that this would be replaced. E-2 Strain moved, Bluhm second to approve the following licenses and bonds Request from Midwest Speedways of Rochester for an application for a temporary On -Sale 3.2 beer license for June 13, Jurje 30, and July I" at the Olmsted County Fair Grounds. Request for the Off -Sale 3.2 Beer for a period ending April 1, 1985 for Peter McHardy of Plaza Liquor. This allows the Liquor Store to sell the low -alcohol content beers now available on the market. Request received for an Auctioneer License received from Carroll Bruske of Rochester, Minnesota . Ayes (6)', Nays (0). Motion carried. E-3 Bluhm moved, Allen second to approve the Parade route for Rochester- fest '84 This has been approved by the Rochester Police Dept. and will start at the Mayo Civic Aud. and end up at Soldiers Field. Ayes (6), Nays (0). Motion carried. E-4 Allen moved, Strain second to adopt Resolution No. 327-84- establishing a new precinct ( two) in the City of Rochester thus making Second Ward, Fourth Precinct and First Ward, Fourth Precinct. Ayes (6), Nays (0). Motion carried. E-5 Allen moved, Bluhm second to table the request for acquisition of oliday Gas Station at 805 South Broadway for further information. yes (6), Nays (0).
