ourned Meetinq No. 2 - June 8. 1987
President Postier called the meeting to order at 4:00 P.M. the
meeting being held in Room 4 of City Hall. Present: President
Postier, Aldermen Bluhm, Canfield,.HUnzi_ker,..McConnelI, Sol inger and
Strain. Absent: None.
Strain moved, Hunziker second to adopt Resolution No.298A-87 orderin
the project to be made and advertise for bids on Project No. 8416
J8887 Alley Resurfacing behind the Holiday Inn Downtown from 2nd
street S. E.to Third Street S. E. Ayes (7), Nays (0).Motion carried-.
Canfield moved, McConnell second to adopt Resolution No. 299-87
requesting Mn/DOT to provide improvements on TH 63 from 4th Street
South to 4th Street North and provide for City participation in
costs. Ayes (7), Nays (0).Motion carried.
Discussion was held on the awarding of the low bid submitted by
Minn -Kota for Project No. 6107-87 J 8952 - San. Sewer, Watermain
and Service Connection in Golden Hill Addition, Hilmer's High View
and Toogood Plaza. Representatives of Minn -Kota - Jim Dutch and
Kal Bergstrom were present and stated that they made an'honest
error and would like to be relieved from the acceptance of the low
bid by the Council. The error amounted to approximately $100,000..
It was recommended by the Public Services Director and the City
Administrator for the City to accept the low bid. Canfield moved,
Solinger second to adopt Resolution No. 300-87 accepting the low
bid of Minn -Kota in the amount of $758,559.50. Ayes (7), Nays (0).
Motion carried.
Alderman McConnell asked Council input on his proposed trip to
Ohio to study the pornography situation and hopes to find out
helpful ways to eliminate the situation we have in Rochester.
Upon advice from the City Attorney; that his office would look
into the matter further, Alderman McConnell stated that he would
wait for a formal opinion from the City Attorney.
Having no further business, Hunziker moved, Strain second to
adjourn the meeting. Ayes (7), Nays (0).Motion carried.
