O c to b er : 20 1944 1 1 • • 1 1 Minutes of a special meeting of the Common Council of the City of Rochester, Minnesota, held in the Council Chambers, in the City Hall, in said City on October 20, 1944. President Lemmon called the meeting to order at 7:30 o'clock P.M., the following members: being present: President Lemmon, Alderman Fryer, Kennedy, Kjerner, Mcquillan, Mrachek and Yaeger. Absent: None.. The call of the special meeting was read and President Lemmon ordered that.the same be placed on file: said special meeting having been called for the purpose of considering the approval of a resolution adopted by the Board of Education, of Independent School District No. 8, on the 3rd day of October, 1944, deeming it expedient to borrow money by issuing the bonds of said School District in the amount not to exceed $1,800,000.00 to be used for the purpose of sites, for schoolhouses and for defraying the expense to be included in building, rebuilding, remodeling, repairing and furnishing school houses for said School District. The following certified copy of a resolution adopted by the Board of .Education of Independent School District No. 8 on October 3, 1944 was read and President Lemmon ordered that same be placed on file: "Resolved by the Board of Education of Independent School District No. 9 of Olmsted County, Minnesota, that it is expedient to borrow money by issuing the bonds of said school district in an amount not exceeding $1,900,000 to be used for the purchase of sites for schoolhouses and for defraying the expenses to be incurred in building, rebuilding, remodeling, repairing and furnishing school houses for said school district, and for installing heating, - ventilating and plumbing plants in the same, and equipping schools with libraries, apparatus, and other school furniture. Be it further resolved that the proposition of issuing said bonds be submitted to the electors of said Independent School District No. S of Olmsted County, Minnesota, at a special election to be held therein on the 7th day of November, A. D. 1944, between the hours of S o'clock A. M. and 9 o'clock P. M., and that notice thereof be given -as required by law." Alderman Fryer introduced the following resolution which was read: "WHEREAS, The Board of Education of Independent School District No. S of Olmsted County, othe-rwise known as the Board of Education of the City of Rochester, has filed with the City -Clerk a certified copy of the following resolution which has been adopted by it: 'Resolved by the Boa,rd of Education of Independent School District No. 5 of Olmsted County, Minnesota, that it is expedient to borrow money by issuing the bonds of said school district in an amount not exceeding $1,900,000 to be used for the purhhase of sites for schoolhouses and for defraying the expenses to be incurred in building, rebuilding, remodeling, repairing and furnishing school houses for said school district, and for installing heating, ventilating and plumbing plants in the same, -and equipping schools with libraries, apparatus, and other school furniture. Be it further resolved that the proposition of issuing said bonds be submitted to the electors of said Independent School District No. S of Olmsted County, Minnesota, at a special election to be held therein on the 7th day of November, A. Council of the City of Rochester Minnesota 0 c to.-b er 20 19 44 • Now, therefore, be it resolved by the Common Council of the City of I Rochester that a special election and meeting of said School District be held therein on the 7th day of November, 1944, between the hours of eight o'clock I I in the -forenoon and eight o'clock in the afternoon of said day, for the purpose of submitting said proposition to the electors of said district; Be it further resolved that the 'City Clerk of said City of Rochester be, and he is hereby directed to give notice of such special election as requiredl'. by law. " Upon motion by Kennedy, second by Kjerner, that the said resolution be adopted as read, and all voting in favor thereof, President Lemmon declared the j said resolution duly passed and adopted.
