There are no new employees not already authorized by the Common Council, but the public health engineer and sanitation secretary are new since the beginning of the last fiscal year. As previously agreed to, the Board will pay the entire salaries of the Social Welfare Worker and her secretary. These additions plus a uniform raise of $25.06 in all salaries with the exception of the Health Officer and City Farm Superintendent, will account for the increase in the salary budget over the est.ima.tes of last October. The Board would also like authorization for the employement of -temporary farm laborers at prevailing wages during the summer months when the work of collecting garbage reaches a peak. This has been done in previous years. The development of the Health Department has brought about new problems of adjustment from time to time and members of the Board of Health and Welfare wish to express their appreciation for the understanding and sympathetic help the Council has always been ready to give.
