HomeMy WebLinkAbout11-14-1996RECORD OF OFFICIAL PROCEEDINGS OF THE COMMON COUNCIL CITY OF ROCHESTER, MINNESOTA -18A0 Special Meeting No. 28 - November 14, 1996 Agenda Item E-1 President Pro-Tem McConnell called the meeting to order at 4:00 P.M. with the following members being present: Councilmembers Hruska, Evans, Senjem. Absent: Councilmembers Marcoux, Stobaugh and President Hunziker. The meeting was to canvass the recount of the Second Ward Councilmember race between Marcia Marcoux and Mary Lee Matthes. Ms. Matthes challenged a ballot at the Recount held on November 13th. Terry Adkins, City Attorney, explained the process of the challenge to the Councilmembers. Councilmember Hruska moved, Senjem seconded, to disregard the challenged ballot and give no vote for either party; it was unclear of the intent of the voter. Ayes (3), Nays (1). Motion carried. President Pro-Tem McConnell voted nay. Councilmember Evans moved, Hruska seconded, to adopt Resolution No. 635-96 declaring Marcia Marcoux the winner in the Second Ward Councilmember race. Ayes (4), Nays (0). Motion carried. Having no further business, Councilmember Evans moved, Hruska seconded, to adjourn the meeting. Ayes (5), Nays (0). Motion carried. Cit Clerk
