HomeMy WebLinkAbout04-28-1997RECORD OF OFFICIAL PROCEEDINGS OF THE COMMON COUNCIL 49134 A( b&ZW fI49AWEF0 -"RMi F2%?1&7 Agenda Item E-1 E-2 E-3 President John Hunziker called the meeting to order at 4:30 P.M. with the following members present: Councilmembers Mack Evans, Ed Hruska, Marcia Marcoux, Jean McConnell, David Senjem and Walter Stobaugh. Councilmembers Evans moved, Stobaugh seconded, to adopt Resolution No. 225-97 approving the subordination agreement relating to the 2nd DTED Grant from 1995 for the original PEMSTAR, INC Project, the subordination agreement for the City Redevelopment Assistance Agreement for the 1997 PEMSTAR, INC Project, and subordination agreement amendments for the first DTED Grant and the City Development Assistance Agreement for the 1994 PEMSTAR, INC Project. Ayes (7), Nays (0). Motion carried. Councilmember Senjem called to the attention of the Council an urban housing development off 55th Street N.W., adjacent to City limits and approximately one- half mile from the Water Reclamation Plant. He noted that septic systems will be installed rather than City sewer/water service. It was the consensus of the Council that this matter be brought to the attention of the County Board prior to their approval of the development to encourage hook-up to City sewer and water facilities. Mayor Canfield announced that the Fire Department will have volunteers going to the Red River Valley area to assist in the flood cleanup operation. These individuals will be taking a truck,, trailer and RV along with pumps to remove water. They will also be relieving Grand Forks firefighters presently on duty to allow those individuals to clean their own homes. The Rochester Aviation group will then fly new volunteers up to the area and fly back those persons having to return to their regular duties in Rochester. The cost for this effort will be approximately $3000 for gasoline for taking the truck, trailer and RV and for the airplane fuels. Councilmembers agreed that the firefighters should be covered by Worker's Compensation while pursuing volunteer efforts. Councilmember Senjem moved, Hruska seconded, to adopt Resolution No. 226- 97 directing the Mayor and City Clerk to execute all documents necessary for allowing Rochester Firefighters to volunteer in the flood relief efforts in the Red River Valley. Ayes (7), Nays (0). Motion carried. Having no further business, Councilmembers Evans moved, Stobaugh seconded, to adjourn the meeting. Ayes (7), Nays (0). Motion carried. ��z City Clerk 1
