HomeMy WebLinkAbout04-29-19474 • • 1 0 1 • • 1 April 29. 1947 Minutes of a special meeting of the Common Council of the City of Rochester, Minnesota, held in the Cou-ncil Chambers in the City Hall, in said City on April 29, 19_47. President Lemmon called the meeting to order at 5:00 o'clock P.M., the following members being present: President Lemmon, Aldermen Akenhead, Fox, Fryer, Kennedy, Kjerner, and Yaeger. Absent: None. The call of the special meeting was read and President Lemmon ordered that the same be placed on file, the said meeting being called for the purpose of considering the issuance of taxicab franchises and any other business the said Common Council may deem proper. President Lemmon thanked all members of the Common Council for answerin@ the call of the special meeting. He stated that he had called the meeting to settle the matter of taxicabs operating in the City of Rochester, if possible. Mr. Allen J. Furlow was present representing Howard McGoon,.Mr. Richard Manahan representing the Vets Cabs and Mr. William Schaioht representing the 'fellow Cab Company and the Service Cabs. After hearing the attorneys and the opinion of the City Attorney that it would not be proper to grant franchises without notice to the public, Alderman Yaeger made a motion that the meeting be djourned. Mayor McQuillan then wished to be heard on the matter and Alderman Yae ithdrew his motion. Af-ter hearing further discussion a motion was made by Fryer, second by Kennedy, that the meeting be adjourned. All voted in favor thereof. City Clerk
