Minutes of a special meeting of the Minnesota, held in the Council Chambers in the ig4s. Common Council of the City of Rochester, City Hall, in said City, on September 10, President Lemmon called the meeting to order at 4:30 o'clock P. M., the following members being present: President Lemmon, Aldermen Akenhead, Anderson,•Kennedy, Morris and Theel: Absent: Alderman Kjerner, due to illness. The call of the special meeting was read and President Lemmon ordered that the same be placed on file, the said meeting having been called for the purpose of further considering the purchase of fife hose for the Fire Department and any other business the • said Common Council may deem proper. The following bids for the purchase of 2000 feet of fire hose were again considered: B. F. Goodrich Rubber Company, $2,il6.80; Eureka Fire Hose Company,$2,129.05; Minnesota Fire Extinguisher Company. $2,220.00; Fabric Fire Hose Company, $2,089.95 and Hewitt Rubber Company $2,077.60. The recommendation of the Fire Committee that the bid of the Hewitt Rubb:er Company in the amount of $2,077.60 for the purchase of 2000 feet of fire hose be accepted was read and the same was ordered placed on file. Alderman Anderson introduced a resolution accepting the bid of Hewitt Rubber Company for the purchase of 2000 feet of fife hose, which was read. Upon motion by Kennedy, second by Akenhead, that the said resolution be adopted as read, and all present voting in favor thereof, President Lemmon declared the said resolution duly passed and adopted. Upon motion by Akenhead, second by Theel, the City Clerk was instructed to certified return the checks of the unsuccessful bidders. Alderman Anderson introduced a resolution appropriating $2,109,50 from the Parking Meter Fund and ordering payment made to the Duncan Meter Corporation, for collection from Parking meters during August, 194ES, which was read. Upon motion by .Akenhead, second by Anderson, that the said resolution be adopted as read, and all present voting in favor thereof, President Lemmon declared the • said resolution duly passed and adopted. The following communication was read and upon motion by Akenhead, second by Theel, the same was referred to the City ATtorney: . "Members of the Common Council City of Rochester Gentelmen: Kindly take notice that a Summons and Complaint has been served upon me wherein Lillian B. Duncan has started action against the City of Rochester for damages to the extent of $8,000.00 and costs. This is the case refrred to by Mr. Harvey Duncan, her husband, in his notice of intention to start suit which was received several months ago by the Common Council and which was referred to City Attorney Hunt.
