Minutes of a special meeting of the Common Council of the City of Rochester,
Minnesota, held in the Council Chambers in the City Hall, in said City, on February 28,
President Fryer called the meeting to order at 7:30 o'clock P. M., the
following members being present; President Fryer, Aldermen Amundsen, Anderson, $elmkay
McPherson and Miner.
Alderman Morris.
The call of the special meeting was read and President Fryer ordered that the
same be placed on file, the said meeting being called'for the purpose of canvassing the
returns of the Primary Election of the City of Rochester, Minnesota, held on February 2
1951 and any other business the said Common Council may deem props".
Alderman Amundsen introduced the following resolution which was read:
"Be it resolved by the.Common Council of the City of Rochester, Minnesota:
That the following, is a tabulated statement of the number of votes cast for
each person at the Primary Election held on the 27th day of February, A.D. 1951,
in the City of Rochester, Minnesota, as determined by said Common Council on the
canvass of the returns of the said Primary Election made this 28th day of
February, A. D.' 1951, and' that the said tabulated statement is hereby declared
to show the results of -the said Primary Election:

Be it furtherresolved by the said Common Council:
That Glenn 0. Amundsen and Arthur R..Swan are helreby declared to be
candidates for Mayor of the City of Rochester, Minnesota, at the Charter
Election to be held March 13, 1951.
That Knuto Olson and Marvin W. Price are hereby declared to be
candidates for City Assessor of the City of Rochester, A•linnesota, at the
Charter Election to be held March 13, 1951.
That Wayne Davis and Willard H. Knapp are hereby declared to be
candidates for Alderman of the First Ward, of the City of Rochester,
Minnesota, at the Charter Election to be held March 13, 1951.
That George B.. Brumm and Floyd D. Gatewood are hereby declared to
be candidates for Alderman of the Third Ward of the City of Rochester,
Minnesota, at the Charter Election to be held March 13, 1951.
The City Clerk of said City is hereby instructed to cause the ,names
of the said persons, to be printed as candidates for the respective offices
upon the official ballots at the coming Charter Election to be held
March 13, 1951."

Upon motion by Miner, second by Helmkay, that the said resolution be adopted

4s read, and all voting in favor thereof, President Fryer declared the said resolution

duly passed and adopted.
I� Alderman Amundsen introduced a resolution appropriating $250.00 from the

;General Fund and ordering payment made to Sarah A. and Roy R. Baker for the purchase
I,of Lot S, except that part thereof lying East of the creek, in Block 9, Manley's
Addition, which was read.
Upon motion by Amundsen, second by Anderson, that.the said resolution be
,adopted as read, and all voting in favor thereof, President Fryer declared the said
iresolution duly passed and adopted, subject to receiving a satisfactory title to the
Iisaid lot.
�I The following claims were read and upon motion by Amundsen, second by
4nderson, the same were approved and the Mayor and City Clerk were -authorized and

directed to draw warrants upon the City Treasurer and make payments accordingly:

The matter of financing the construction of a baseball grandstand at Mayo
Field Park was again discussed. Upon motion by Amundsen, second by, Anderson,•the City
Clerk was instructed to write Dorsey, Colman, Barker, Scott and Berber and request the
services of Mr. -Hugh H. 'Barber in the matter of determining as to whether or not the
unmatured portion ($75,000.00) of the,$80,000.00 bond issue, approved 'at an election
held on February 14, 1950, could now be sold and if so, could the unmatured bonds be
sold as a general obligation of the City of Rochester. Mr. Barber's services were
requested for, the afternoon or evening of March 5, 1951.
Upon motion by Amundsen, second by Anderson, the meeting was adjourned. !
