HomeMy WebLinkAbout02-03-1954�4 Record of .Official Proceedings of the Common Council of the City of Rochester, Minn., February 3. 1954 Minutes of a special meeting of the Common Council of the City of Rochester, Minnesota, held in the Council Chambers in the City Hall, in said City, on February 3, 19540 President Bach called the meeting to order at 5:00 o'clock P. M., the following members being present: President Bach, Aldermen Ackerman, Anderson, Morris, Schroeder and Thiem, Absent: Alderman Whiting. The call of the special meeting wqs read and President Bach ordered that the same be placed on file, the said special meeting having been called for the purpose of considering the resignation submitted to the Common Council by • Mr.'A. G. Whiting, Alderman of the Second Ward, and any other business the said " Common Council may deem proper. A communication dated February 1, 1954-addressed to the Honorable Mayor, President of the Council and Aldermen, signed'by M'r. A;. G. Whiting, tendering his resignation as Alderman from the Second Ward of the City of Rochester, effective February 1, 1954, was presented. Alderman Ackerman moved that the resignation tendered by Mr. A. G. Whiting, Alderman of the Second Ward, be rejected. Alderman Schroeder seconded the motion and upon roll call all present, -voted in favor ofthe , motion. Upon motion by Anderson, second by Schroeder, the Chief of the Firer Department and one other member from the Fire Department, were authorized to attend, at city expense, the 26th annual Fire Department Instructors Conference to be held in Memphis, Tennessee, on February 23,24,25 and 26, 1954. President Bach stated that there was now an opportunity to rent space along the east side of the Mill Parking Lot property to a Sign Company. Also the matter of renting space at the south end of the Mill Parking Lot property for signs was discussed. Upon motion by Schroeder, second by Ackerman, the matter was referred to the Street & Alley Committee and the City • Engineer. A communication addressed to Mr. Charles H. Dornack, Plumbing Inspector, notifying him of the 59th Annual Convention of the Minnesota Master Plumbers Association to be held at the Nicollet Hotel in Minneapolis on February 19, 19 and 20, 1954 was read and upon motion by Morris, second by Schroeder, Mir. Dornack was authorized to attend at city expense. Upon motion by Morris, second by Ackerman, the meeting was adjourned until February 15, 1954 at 7: 30 o'clock P. M. — City Clerk
