Minutes of a special meeting of the* Common Council of the City of
Rochester, Minnesota, held in the Council Chambers in the City Hall in.said City,
on February 1, 1955.
President Bach called the meeting to order at 5:00 o'clock P. M., the
following members being present:, President Bach, Aldermen Ackerman, Anderson,
Moody, Morris, Schroeder and Whiting. Absent: None.
The call of the special meeting was read and President Bach ordered the
same placed on file, the said -meeting having been called f.or the purpose of
considering the resignation of Alderman Stanley M. Morris and any other business
the said Common Council may deem proper.
The resignation of Stanley M. Morris as Alderman of -the Second Ward
effective as of this date was read and upon motion by Moody, second by Anderson,
his resignation was accepted effective as -of this date, February 1, 1955. All
voted in favor of the motion.
A motion was made by Moody, second by Ackerman, that Stanley M. Morris
be appointed as Al-derman of the Second Ward to hold this office until the next
annual election and until his successor is elected and qualified, that is to
hold this office until the fir-st Monday in April, '1955 and until his successor
is elected and qualified. Upon roll call all voted in favor •of the motion.
A motion was made by Ackerman, second by Anderson, that the City Clerk
publish a notice in the paper to the effect that Stanley M. Morris has resigned
hi-s office as Alderman of the Second Ward, effective as of this date, February 1,
1955, and that there is an additional vacancy created for Alderman of the Second
Ward for a term of one year and that candidates may file for the office not later
than February 11, 1955 for the primary election to be held on February 21, 1955-
All voted in favor of the motion.
Mr. Jack Rubenstein was present and explained that he e-xpe-cted to
conduct two separate business concerns and displayed a plan showing the location
of each one in the building he intends to occupy:. No action was taken at this
meeting.
Mr. Claude Bremer, who operates the Recreation Bowling Alleys, was
also present and heard by the Council.
Upon motion by Ackerman, second ,by Moody, the meeting was adjourned.
