Minutes of a special meeting of the Common Council of, the City of
Rochester, Minnesota, held in the Council Chambers in the City Hall, in said City,
on February 15, 1955.
President Bach called the meeting to order at 5:00 o'clock P. M., the
following members being present: President Bach, Aldermen Anderson, Moody,
Morris, Schroeder and Whiting. Absent: Alderman Ackerman.
The call of 'the special meeting was read and President Bach ordered the
same placed on file, the said meeting having been called for the purpose of con-
sidering the matter of asking for bids for the sale of the property known as the
"City Hog Farm", and any other business the said Common Council may deem proper.
Mayor McQuillan was present and stated that several people had
indicated to him that they were interested in buying the land known as the City
Hog Farm and recommended that the Council re -advertise for bids so that anyone
interested could bid on the said property.
Alderman Moody stated that he felt the City should return Mr. Leiferman'
certified check submitted with his proposal for the City Hog Farm and re -advertise
for bids as he felt it was the duty of this Council to get as much money as
possible for the property. He further stated that he knew of at least one
prospective bidder and possibly more.
After further discussion a motion was made by Morris,,second by Whiting,
that Mr. Leiferman's certified check be returned to him and that the motion
previously made at a special meeting held on February 10, 1955 instructing the
City Attorney to prepare a resolution accepting the bid of George Leiferman for
the sale of the City Hog Farm be rescinded. Upon roll call all.present voted in
favor of themotion.
A motion was then made by Morris, second by Schroeder, referring ,the
matter of the sale of the hog farm to the Public Grounds Committee. All present
voted in favor of the motion.
Upon motion by Schroeder, second by Whiting, the meeting was adjourned.
