Minutesof an adjourne-d .r-egular meeting of the Common Council of the City
of- Ro-cheste•r, Minnesota, held in the Council Chambers, in -the- City Hall, in said
City, on: March 9, 1955-
President Bach called the meeting to order at 2:45 ol-clack ?. M., the
following members being present: President Bach, Aldermen Ackerman, Moody,
hand Morris. Absent: Aldermen Anderson, Schroeder and Whiting.
The Council then proceeded to the polling places in the var-i-ous
precincts of the City to inspect the registering counters of the voting machines
and -to compare the number of votes showy_ by such voting machines with the returns
submitted by the Judges at the Charter Election held on March S. 1955-
After making the canvass of the voting machines the Council members
returned to the City Hall and President Bach called the meeting to order, the
following members being present: President Bach, Aldermen Ackerman, Anderson,
Moody, Morris and Schroeder. Absent: Alderman Whiting.
The following resolution was introduced and read and upon motion by
Morris, second by Anderson, that the said resolution be adopted as read and all
present voting in favor thereof, President Bach declared the said resolution
duly passed and adopted;
Be it resolved by the Common Council of the City of Rochester, Minnesota:
That the following is a tabulated statement and list of the number of votes cast for
each person at the Charter Election held March 8, 1955, in the City of Rochester, Minnesota, as
determined by said Common Council, on the canvass of the returns of said election made the 9th
day of March, 1955, the said statement is hereby declared to show the result o-f said election.

Minnesota:
That Claude H. McQuillan is hereby declared to be elected to the office of Mayor of
said City, at the Charter Election held March 8, 1955, to hold office for two years and until
his successor is elected and oualified;
That Ross Browning is hereby declared to be elected to the office of City Treasurer'
of said City, at the Charter Election held March 8, 1955, to hold office for one year and until
his successor is elected and qualified;
That Marvin W. Price is hereby declared to be elected to the office of City Assedsoe
of said City, at the Charter Election held March 8, 1955, to hold office for two years end:
until his successor is elected and qualified;
That Wm. S. LaPla_nte is hereby declared to be elected to the office of Justice of
the Peace, styled "City Justice" of said City, at the Charter Election held March 8, 1955, to
hold office for two years and until his successor is elected and qualified;
That Leo C. Anderson is hereby declared to be elected to the office of Alderman'
of the First Ward of said City, at the Charter Election held March 8, 1955, to hold office
for two years and until his successor is elected and Qualified;
That A. G. Whiting is hereby declared to be elected to the office of Alderman of
the Second Ward of said City, at the Charter Election held March 8, 1955, to hold office for
two years and until his successor is elected and qualified;
That Albert J. Tingley is hereby declared to be elected to the office of Alderman
of the Second Ward of said City, at the Charter Election held March 8, 1955, to hold office
for one year and until his successor is elected and qualified;
That Paul J. Schwanke is hereby declared to be elected to the office of Alderman
of the Third Ward of said City, at the Charter Election held March 8, 1955, to hold office
for two years and until his successor is elected and qualified;
That there is hereby declared to be a tie vote for the office of Constable for the
First Ward of said City;
That Charles Smart is hereby declared to be elected to the office of Justice of the
Peace of the First Ward of said City, at the Charter Election held March 8, 1955, to hold office
for two years and until his successor is elected and oualified;
That B. H. Drummond is hereby declared to be elected to the office of Constable of
the Second Ward of said City, at the Charter Election held March 8, 1955, to hold office for
two years and until his successor is elected and qualified;
That Fred Rolstad is hereby declared to be elected to the office of Justice of
Peace of the Third Ward of said City, at the Charter Election held March 8, 1955, to hold office
for two years and until his successor is elected and oualified."
