HomeMy WebLinkAbout07-29-1955478 Record of Official Proceedings of the Common Council of the City of Rochester, Minn., July 29, 19 55 Minutes of a special meeting of the Common Council of the City of Rochester, Minnesota, held in the Council Chambers in the City Hall, in said City, on July 29, 1955• President Bach called the meeting to order at 5:00 o'clock P. M., the following members being present: President Bach, Alderman Anderson, Moody, Schroeder, Schwanke and Whiting. Absent: Alderman Tingley. The call of the special meeting was read and President Bach ordered the same placed on file, the said meeting having been called for the purpose of considering the method of assessing the cost for the sewer and water main from the Fullerton property eastward to the main trunk line and any other business the said Common Council may deem proper. Mayor McQuillan stated that representatives of the Fullerton Lumber Company were present and would like to have some agreement reached on the method of payment of costs for construction of a sewer and water main in their proposed addition to be annexed to the City. Mr. R. V. Ehrick, City Attorney, stated that the City could now issue bonds for the said improvement under the new laws adopted in 1953 whereby they did not have to be put to a vote of the people. Mr. George Pougiales, respresenting Fullerton Lumber Company, stated that the Fullerton Company had made arrangements to get easements from Mr. Geselle and Mr. Elford over whose property the said sewer would have to be constructed. He further stated that the Fullerton Lumber Company felt there was a need for an immediate decision and that the Lumber Company would purchase the bonds, if issued by the City, and would enter into a signed agreement on the bonds that in the event those adjacent areas do not hook into the trunk line then the payment of the bonds at a certain specific date are excused or postponed. No action was taken at this meeting but the Fullerton Company were told to present a petition for annexation at the next Council meeting.
