of the City of Rochester, Minn., July 26, 19 57 •
Minutes of a special meeting of the Common Council of the City of
Rochester, Minnesota, held in the Council Chambers in the City Hall, in said City;
on July 26, 1957.
President Bach called the meeting to order at 9:00 o!clock A. M., the
following members being present: President Bach, Aldermen Briese, Haas, Morris,
Schroeder, Tingley, Whiting. Absent: None:
The call of the special meeting was read and President Bach ordered the
same placed on file, the said meeting having been called for the purpose of taking
action to advertise for bids for the removal of certain buildings on the Jensen
farm (re: new airport property) and any other business the said Common Council may
deem proper.

The following recommendation of the Rochester Airport Commission was
"Honorable Members of the Common Council
City of Rochester
Rochester, Minnesota
Gentlemen: .
The Airport Commission, at a meeting held Tuesday, July 239
1957 voted unanimously to recommend to the Common Council, that
bids be advertised as quickly as possible for the removal of the
buildings on the Edgar Jensen farm, a part of the New Airport
property.
It is recommended that a separate bid be asked for the quonset
building, same to be removed by September 1, 1957 and another bid
be submitted for the rest of the buildings and the house.
The house to be removed by September 15, 1957 and the rest of
the buildings to be removed by September 1; 1957.
Immediate action is imperative in order not to delay grading
operations.

A. motion .was- made by .Alderman Schroeder that the recommendation of the Airport
Commission be accepted and the City Attorney was instructed to prepare a resolution
advertising for bids for sale and removal of the said buildings. Alderman Morris
seconded the motion and all) voted in favor thereof.
Alderman Briese then introduced a resolution advertising for sealed bids
for the sale and removal of buildings on the Jensen & Gibbs farm, Municipal Airport
(new) Site, which was read. A motion was made by Alderman Morris that the said
resolution be adopted as read. Alderman Schroeder seconded the motion and all
voting in favor thereof, President. Badh declared the said resolution duly passed
and adopted.
A motion was made by Alderman Schroeder, second by Alderman Morris, that
the Council consider other business than the call. Upon roll call all voted in
favor thereof.
A petition signed by Reuben C. Wolfgram to have Lot 20, Lemke's Subdiv-
ision chan#ed from a residential to a multiple dwelling zone was read and upon

motion by Tingley, second by Haas, the same was referred to the Board of Zoning.
A petition signed by Joe Gores of the Kruse Company to have the two
following described parcels of land in Rolling Greens Addition changed .from a
residential zone to a commercial zone was read and upon motion by Schroeder,
second by Tingley, the same was referred to the Board of Zoning:
Parts of the South half of the Northwest quarter of Section 22,
Township 107 North, Range 14 West described by metes and bounds
as follows:
1. Beginning at a point on the. East line of said quarter section
which' is 765.2 feet North of the Center of said section, thence
West parallel to the South line of the Northwest quarter of
Section 22 a distance of 669,9 feet, thence Northwesterly a distance
of 455 feet more or less to a point which is 166.0 feet East of
the Northeast corner of Lot #1, Block #4 of Rolling Greens Addtion,
• thence East parallel to the South line -of the Northwest quarter -of
Section 22 a distance of 775 feet more or less to the East line of
said.'quarter, thence South on the quarter line to the place of
beginning,
2. beginning at the Northwest corner of Rolling -Greens Addition,
thence Southerly along the West line of Twenty-first Avenue,
Northwest a distance of 370.0 feet thence Southwesterly a
distance of 480 feet more or less to the East Right-of-way line
of Trunk Highway 52, thence Northerly along. -said right-of-way
line a distance of 61590 feet to the intersection of the
right' -of -way line with the North line of Rolling Greens Addition
extended, thence East along said extended line to the point of beg.
Alderman Haas introduced the following resolution which was read:
"Be it resolved by the Common Council of the City df Rochester,
Minnesota that the Master Plan for the Rochester Municipal (new)
Airport, Rochester, Minnesota as prepared by Ellerbe & Company
and Kenneth M. N.cGhie, Architects and Engineers, dated January 18,
1957 and revised as of June 24, 1957, a copy of which revised
Master Plan is attached hereto and made a part hereof, is hereby
approved."
A motion was made by Alderman Haas, second by Alderman Morris, that the
said resolution be adopted as read and all voting in favor thereof, President
Bach declared the said resolution duly passed and adopted,
Alderman Schroeder introduced a resolution granting one public dance
permit to Gene Thompson which was read, A motion was made by Alderman Schroeder,
second by Alderman Tingley, that the said resolution be adopted as read and all
voting in favorl'thereof, President Bach declared the said resolution duly passed
and adopted,
• The application for transfer of 3.2 Beer "On Sale" License No. 922 and
3.2 Beer "Off Sale" License No. 1764 from Dolores L. Ryan 'to Charles A. Holt at
323 First Avenue Southwest was read and upon motion by Haas, second by Schroeder,
the same was referred to the License Committee,
Alderman Morris introduced the following resolution which was read:
"Be it resolved by the Common Council of the City of Rochester,
Minnesota that pending final determination of the appeals in the
condemnation proceedings for the new Municipal Airport that all
checks tendered to the appealing land owners and returned by them
be voided."
A motion was made by Alderman Haas, second by Alderman Morris, that the said
resolution be adopted as read, and all voting in favor thereof, President Bach
declared the said resolution duly passed and adopted,

Alderman Tingley introduced a resolution appropriating $150,000,00 from
the General rand and ordering payment made to the Mayo Association which was read.
A motion was made by Alderman Tingley, second by Alderman Haas, that the said
resolution be adopted as read and all voting in favor thereof, President Bach
declared the said resolution duly passed and adopted,
President Bach stated that the Board of Park Commissioners had contacted
him and wished to have an informal meeting with the Council in regard to matters in
connection with the hiring of a Manager for the Mayo Civic'Auditorium. President
Bach was to contact the Park Board and notify the members of the Council when they
wished to meet.. •
Upon motion by Haas, second by Schroeder, the meeting was adjourned.
