Minutes of a special meeting of the Common Council of the City of Rochester,
Minnesota, held in the Councii 'Chambers, in the City Hall, in said City, on November
169'19211, at 1:30 o'clock, P.Mil
Meeting called to order by Weekeei
Roll Call: Present: Weeks, Case, Erickson, Frank, Miner, Olsor_, Witzke• Ab-
eent: None. `
The call for the special meeting was read; said meeting being called for
the purpose of consideration of the application of the Rex R. Robinson Company to
conduct an auction of jewelry at 19 Broadway Street South, in said City, and any
other business that the said Common Council might deem proper.
A representatives of one' of the large creditors ' of the Rex R. Robinson Co.
explained that it was necessary too hold an auction as it would be the only quick
means of moving enough of his stock to cover their claims, and stated that immedi at e-
ly upon selling enough of the stock to meet their account, the sale would be stopped.;
He requested that the Common Council` repeal the ordinance prohibiting the sale at
auction of jewelry and kindred goods after six o'clock P.Mi on any day.
Motion by Witzke second by Frank carried that the City Attorney be instruct~
ed to draft an ordinance repealing an ordinance prohibiting the sale at auction of
jewelry and kindred goods after six o'clock P.M. on any day.
'The following report of the City Attorney was read, and motion by Case see -
and by 'Olson carried that the same be accepted 'end placed on file:

The following application for a license was read, and motion by Witzk•
second by Frank carried that the said license be granted for the' period requested at
a fee 'of $5.00 per day:

Alderman Witzke introduced an ordinance to repeal an ordinance

regulating the,sale at public auction of watches, clocks, diamonds, jewelry

sterling silver ware, plate -ware and other goods pertaining to the jewelry
j business, which was given its first readi

pended and that the said ordinance -be given its second reading and it was
given its second reading, accordingly.
Motion by Olft-n second by Erickson carried that the rules be

_ suspended and that the. said ordinance be given,its third and final reading

Motion by Case second by Olson that said ordinance be adopted as

None& President Weeks declared said ordinance duly passed,and adopted.
• The following application for license was read, and motion by
witzke second by Frank_.carried that the license requested be granted for a
period of one month at. a fee of $25.00 per month:

City of Rochester, Minnesota.
Gentlemen: -
We hereby make application for license to conduct an auction
sale of jewelry, watches, clocks, diamonds and kindred goods at 19 Broad-
way Street South in said City. for a period of one month.
Our check for Twenty-five (25) Dollarg. to pay for. the fee
accompanies this application, as does our bond in the amount of Five Hund-
red (500) Dollars&

The auction sale license %f Rex R. Robinson with H. W Molin
and C. H. Armstrong as sureties thereon, each in the amount of S600eO0,
was read, and motion byErickson second by Case carried that the said sure-
ties be accepted and that the said bond be approved and placed on file6
The following claims were read, and motion by Miner second by
Frank carried that the same be allowed and that orders be drawn for the
