Meeting called' to order by tPre'sident�'Weeks.- j Roll Call: Present: Weeks, Cook, Kitzman, Lemmon, Roeder, Wright. Absent: Newhouse. Motion by Roeder second by -.Wright, carried that the minutes of the meetings held on August. 20th, 19249 and August 25th, 19249 b.e each approved. I President Weeks announced that this was the time and place fixed for a hearing on the . proposed construction of concrete curb and gutter on Second Avenue } Southeast between the South line of Fourth Street .Southeast, and the North line of I! Fifth Street Southeast,. and asked :if there was any person present who wished to be I heard in any matter concerning the said curb and gutter. A remonstrance agAinst the said curb and gutter signed by John Jahnke, Frank Ripley, Louis Schley, Pauline B. Callahahj Eugene Callahan, Charles Alexander, and I Yfrs. J. Shellhammer, was reed, and motion by Lemmon second by Wright carried that it � d the same be placed on file. Herman Kruse orally solieited'the'Common Council that this improvement be imade. Alderman Newhouse came in at this time and took his Chair. j� Motion by .Roeder second by Wright carried that further consideration of the above" proposed improvement be referred to the Street and alley Committee and the City engineer for investigation and -report td this Common Council at the next meeting thereof. - Motion by Lemmon second by Cook carried that further proceedings in the va--king, of the above mentioned improvement be adjourned and continued to September 8th, 1924, at 8 o'clock P.M.. President Weeks announced that this was the time and place fixed for the hearing on the proposed construction of a sanitary sewer described - commencing at manhole on South side of the Sewage Lift Station and running Northeasterly 226 feet to a point on the center line of Third Avenue Southwest 290 feet South of the South line of Sixth Street Southwest, thence North in Third Avenue Southe-.rest to a point 93 feet South of the South line of Sixth Street Southwest and asked if there was anyone present who wished to be heard in any matter concerning the said sanitary sewer. Bruce Kalb) for the interest of his. mother -objected to the said sanitary sewer except that Lot 14 ' in Block 88 in Original Plat be made exempt from assessment or that they be allowed to defer the payment of the assessment until such time as the service would be uses for this Lot. Motion by Roeder second by Wright carried that further consideration of this proposed sanitary sewer be referred to the Sewer Committee Sor their investiga- tion and report to this Common Council at the next meeting thereof. 654 �I Motion by -Newhouse second by Roeder' carried that further pro- ceedings in the. ooristruetion of tho - above -dearcribed,. sanitary sewer be'• ad- jounned and continued to September 8th, 19241, Qt .8 otclock P.M. Weeks announced that, this`. was the time and :place or . < fixed for the Levying o.f special, assessment4the cost and expense of the construction of a concrete curb and gutter on Third Avenue Southwest between the South line of Fourth Street Southwest' and -the,,North line of -Sixth Street Southwest and asked if these was, any one present who wished to be heard in any zatter concerning the said .curb . and gutter. Clerk, Alderman Newhouse introduced a resolution levying special assessments for the construction of concrete curb.and gutter on Third Avenue Southwest between the South line .of Fourth Street' Southwest and the North line of Sixth Street Southwest, which was xeadl;- j Upon motion by Newhouse second by -Roeder that the said resolu- tion be adopted as read, and all voting in favor thereof, President Meeks declared the said, resolution duly passed, and. adopted. " The report of the Milk Inspector for the week ending August 30th, 1924, was read, and President:Weeks ordered that the same be placed on file. The report of -the Building and Electrical Inspector for the month of - August, 1924, showing building inspection fee's collected in the amount of $52.00, and electrical inspection fees collected in the amount of $21.75, was read, and President Weeks ordered.that the same be placed on file. The report of the Clerk of the Municipal Court for the creek ending August 4th, 1924, showing fines collected in the amount of 055.00 and civil fees received in ;the amount of $&70, the report of the Clerk of the Municipal Court for the week ending August llth, 19249 sh®wing fines collected in the amount of $57oOO, the report of the Clerk of the.Munbeipal Court for the week ending August 18th, 19249 showing fines collected in the.amount of $43.00 and vivil fees received in the amount of $11.30 Land the report of the Clerk of the Municipal Court for the week ending August 25th, 1924, showing fines collected in the amount of $239.50 and civil fees received in the amount 'of $6.951, were each separately 'read, and President Weeks re- ferred the said reports to the City Attorney. 9 The July 1924 report of the City Justice and the July 1924 report of the Justice of Peace of First Ward, were each re.adi-abid motion by Lemmon second by Cook carried that the same be placed, on file. C., 205th Tnf.. for permits. to hold, i give and conduct public dances in the National %uard Armory on September 6th, 12th, 13th, 20th and 27th, 1924, was read. i The application of Julius Radke for a license to engage in the business of a soft drink dealer in the building on the property described as North 22 feet of the South 44 feet of Lot No. 2 in Block No. 10, in Aloe and Old's Addition, was 1 read, and motion by Roeder second by Wright carried that a licanee be granted. A petition asking `that a concrete curb and gutter be constructed on Fifth Avenue Southeast from the South line of Sixth Street Southeast to the North line of Tenth Street Southeast, signed by Elmer B. City Council. - Rochester,, Minn. j Gentlemen: �+ I herewith propose to `make. a carefull study and to submit a written report on the proposed -sewage treatment plant for your city. The report will contain a description of the various methods of treatmeht which' can be used under the conditions existing in your city, together with estimates of the cost of construction and operation and a reccz=endation as - to the method of treatment which will best meet .your needs,' . The report.will be accompanied.by preliminary general plins outlining the the improvements required for the method reccommended and also sketches for such other methods as may seem worthy of consideration. The report will 'also contain a discussion of the division of j the cost of construction and operation between the City, .the Hospital and the State and a reccommendation as to how such costs ""should be divided.
