HomeMy WebLinkAbout11-19-1924772 Minutes of a Special Meeting of the Common Council of the City t of Rochester, Minnesota, held in the Council Chambers, in the City 1Tall, in said City, on November 19th, 19249, at 7 O'clock P.M. President Weeks being absent due to the illness of himself, motion by Tewhouse second by Wright carried that Alderman Cook act as President Pro Tem, and Alderman Cook accordingly took the Chair as such. President Pro Tem Cook called the meeting to order. 4 Roll Call: Present: Cook, Kitzman, Lemmon, Newhouse, Wright. Absent: Weeks, Roeder. Motion by Newhouse second by Lemmon carried that Mary V. Porter act as City Clerk Pro Tem. Motion by Newhouse second by Kitzman carried that Irving L. Fckholdt act as Uity, Attorney Pro Tem. The call for. the Special Meeting was read; said Meeting being called for the purpose of considering applications.for dance permits and any other business that the said Common Council might deem proper. The following applications for permits to hold, give and con- duct public dances, were each separately read: Glenn B. Hagaman for Woodman Hall, November 25th, 1924s, Sunshine Club for A. 0. U. W* Half., November. 29th, , 1924. T. 0. 0. F. , Canton No. 11, for the Odd Fellows Fall, November 27th, 1924. Rochester Lodge, No. 13859 L. 0. 0. M., : for A. 0. U. W. Hall., November 24th, 1924. Whitlock -Sonnenberg, Post No. 1215, V. F. W., for National Guard Armory, November 27th, 1924. Alderman Lemmon introduced a resolution tenting permit to. Glenn P. Fagenan to hold, hive and conduct a public dance in the Woodman Aall on November 25th, 19249 and fixing the fee at the sum of 05.009 .which was read* Upon motion by Newhouse second by Wright that the said resolu- tion be adopted as read, and all voting in favor thereof, President Pro Tem Cook declared the said resolution duly passed and adopted. Alderman Kitzman introduced a resolution granting permit to the Sunshine Club of Rochester to hold., give and conduct a public dance in the A. 0. U. T. TTall, on November 29th, 19249 and fixing the fee at the sum of $1.001, which was read.. Upon motion by Wrig,It second by Newhouse that the said resolu- tion be adopted as read, and all voting in favor thereof, President Pro Tem Cook declared the said resolution duly passed and adopted. Alderman Kitzman introduced a resolution granting; -permit to 773 the I . 0. 0, P., Canton No* ll, tb hold, give and conduct a public dance in the Odd Fellows Hall, on November 27th, 1924s and fixing the fee at the sum of $1.00, which was read. Upon motion by Lemmon second by Kitzman that the said resolution be adopted at3 read, and all voting in favor thereof, President. Pro Tem Cook declared the said resolution duly passed and adopted. Alderman Kitzman introduced a resolution granting permit to the Rochester •Lod.ge, No. 1385, L. 0. 0. V., to hold, give and conduct a public dance in the A. 0. U. W. Hall, on November 24th, 1924, and fixing the fee at the sum of $1.00, which was read. Upon motion by Lemmon second by Kitzman that the said resolution be adopted as read, and all voting in favor thereof, President Pro Tem Cook declared the said resolution duly passed and adopted. Alderman Kitzman introduced a resolution granting permit to the Whitlock - Sonnenberg Post, No, 1215, V. P.W., to hold, give and conduct a public dance in the National Guard Armory, on November 27th, 19-24, and fixing the fee at the sum of V.00, which was read. Upon motion by Wright second by Kitzman that the said resolution be adopted as read, and all voting in favor thereof, President Pro Tem Cook declared the said resolution duly passed and adopted. The claim of E. G. Larson, in the amount of $65.02 for services as Special Patrolman, was read, and motion by Lemmon second by Wright carried that the said slum be appropriated from the General' Fond and paid to him accordingly. The appointment by the Mayor of E. G. Larson, as a Special Patrolman in the Police Department, for the period November l3th, 1924, to November 19th, 1924, inclusive, was read, and President Pro Tem Cook ordered that the same be placed on fi 1 e. The report of the Milk Inspector for the meek ending November 15th, 19243, was read, and President Pro Tem Cook ordered that the same be placed on file.
