President Feeks being absent on account of the illness of himself, motion by Newhouse second by Wright carried that Alderman Coo_c act as President Pro Tem, and Alderman Cook accordingly took the Chair as such. Vecting called to order by President Pro Tem Cook, Roll Call: Present: Cook, Kitzman, Lemmon, Newhouse, wrig,h*,.-osent: Roeder, Teeksa w ?Motion by Newhouse second by Fright carried that the rriniites of the meeting's held on December 15th, 1924, and December 23rd, 3.9249 be each approved.. i The balance sheet, .income statementss etc., of the Public Utility • i Department, prepared by the .Secretary of the Public Utility Board, as at I Yovember 30th, 1924,,were laid befor3 the Common Council, and.motion by Lemmon second by Newhouse carried that the same beplaced on file; the said. income i i statements sho?ring •a net profit in the Light Department for the month of Novem- ! ben, 19?4, of w10,96']•32, and a total net profit in the sight Department for the ! eight months of this fiscal year of $76,640.69, and a net profit in the 'Pater Department for the month of November 192-4, of 01996.479 and a total net profit in the 'Pater Department for the eight months of this fiscal year of ".199791.59. I 'Eugen.e A. Callahan was before the Common Council for the demonstration of his }proposed automobile license plates which carry every feature nece esary for the immediate identification .of the ownership of an automobile in the case of i--.cciden.t or theft, etc., and asked for the endorsement of the Cormtion Coun.ci7 - at rhich motion by Lemr_ion second by Newhouse carried that this Common Council endorse ?.tr. Calle-here's -;proposed automobile license. plates. 4The reports of the 'Milk 'Inspector for the weeks ending December 20th, 1.2,4, and December 27th, 1924, were each separately read, and President Pro ;'em Cook ehdsrdd that the dame be placed on file. The report of the City Tree -surer for the *month ending November 30th, 192i, shotring the sum of $435087.88 as being on hand, was read, and President Pro Tem Cook ordered that the same be placed on file. IL- The report of the Clerk of the Municipe.l Court for the week ending December 221?1d, 1924, showing, Wrimina.l fines collected in the amount of $35.00, and Civil fees received in the account of 66.009 and the report of the Clerk of the Munttipal Court for the week ending December 29th, 1924, shoFing the spun of $76.40 as havinlg been received from Olmsted County for October and. P7ovemrer,19G4* fees, sere each separately read, and President Pro Tem Cook .referred t,r.o said t reports to the City Attorney. f; The application of W. D. McCallum for alicense to engage in the bus- iness of a soft drink dealer, at T1o. 321 Broadway Street South, wa.s read, and motion by Lemmon second by Wright carried that the same be referred to the 17 License Committee. The a;pplicatiors of Claude Ti. Bogart and Rudi Wiese for driver's licenses were each.separatel.y read, and motion by Kitzman second by Fright carried that licenses be granted.. C. 205th Infantry, lfinnesota National Guard, for i.ioen:.e to conduct a roller skating rink in the National !'nerd Armory, to take effect January 3rd, 1.9259 and continue in force for thirty days, was read, and motion by Xittmag,: second by Newhouse carried that a .iceiise be graat'ad for the said period at a fee of $25..00 The followin.g applications for permits to hold, give and. conduct Public dances, were each separately reed: Harold. Mo . - _Pr4 s . of Board. 1 T -A j .rl,e fer —secy. of Board, " Alderman Wright introduced the following resolution, which was reed: "Be' it resolved by the Common Counei1 of the City, of Rochester, 114innesota: That the appropriation made by the Public Utility 'Board f*om the Public Utility Fund on December 239th, .1924, of $34088.59, for the purchase of 03'000.00 of City of Rochester, Vtnnesota, five per cent (5%) Electric Light Bonds; dated January ?nd, 1919, maturing January 1st, 1939, and optional after January 1st, 1929, amd being numbered 850 to 857 inclusive, 681 to 696 inclusive; 924 and 9259 651 to 655 inclusive, and 712 and 7133, be and the said appropriation is hereb-r approved " by -this Common Council. 1 Upon motion by Newhouse second by Roeder that the said. resolution be adopt- ed as read, and all' voting in favor thereof, President Pro Tem Cook declared the juid resolution,duly passed and adopted. ' Alderman Roeder introduced a resolution granting permit to Harold R. Cooke, to hold, give aT1Ci conduct public dances in the woodman Rall on January 3rd, loth, lath, 24th, and 31st, 1.925, and fixing the fee at 05.00 per dance, which was read. Upon motion by Kitzman second by Wright that the said resolution be adopted as reacf, and all voting in favor thereon', President Pro Tem Cook declared the said resolution duly passed and adopted. Alderman Newhouse introduced a resolution granting permit to the TIfty- Fifty Club to bold, give and conduct public dances in the A. 0. U. W. Uall, on January 14th, 28th, arl(i 31st, 1925, and fixing the fee at the total. sum of $3.00, which was read. Upon motion by Wright second by Roeder that the said resolution be adol)ted as read, and all. voting in favor thereof, President Pro Tem Cook declared the s4id resolution duly passed and adopted. Alderman Lemmon introduced a resolution ? -renting a permit to Co. C. 205th Infantry, Minnesota National Guard, to hold., give and conduct public dances in the Naticnal Guard Armory, on January 3rd, loth, lath, 24th and 31st, 1925, and fixing the fee at this total sum of 4p5.00, which was read. Upon notion by Roeder second by Wright that the ^aid resolution be adopted as read, and all voting in favor thereof, President Pro Tem Cook depl.ared the said I I. resolution duly passed and adopted. Alderman Kitzman introduced a resolution a?•a.nting permit to the Sunshine Club to hold, give and conduct ;public dances in the A# 0. U. V,. gall on January 3rd, 2- th, and 29th, 19259 and fixing the fee at the total sum of ;I 3.00, c�ahich was rand.
