Motion by Cook second by Adler carried that the minutes of the meet-
Ing held on July 20th, '1925), be wroved.
President Weeks announced that this was the time and place fixed for
a hearing on the proposed paving, and curbing of Seventh Street Southwe6t from
the West line of Ninth Avenue Southwest to the East line of Tenth Avenue
Southwest, and asked if there was any person present who wished to be heard
relative to the said Paving
or curbing.
There was no person present who wished to be heard in any matter con-
cerning the said proposed improvement,
President Weeks announced that this was the time and place fixed for
a hearing on the proposed paving of the alley running North and South across
1�lock 46 in Original Plato and asked,'if.there was any person present who wish-
ed to be heard relative to the paving of the said alley,

Thos. L. Phelpst Secretary of the Olmoted County Business lfenl*s Associationg
stated b'efore the Common Council that the agitation on the widening of the streets
is not particularly sponsored by their Associationt except that Insofar as there is
-11 now no Civic Association in existencep such things at this time comes to the Business
lfen's Association as being the logical place to commence promotion of such improve-
ments, and in consequence he didt at a -recent meeting of.this Common Council, express
the� great 4emand for relief of our, parking space situation., and stated that in his
canvass for backing of the.street widening project, he found the general attitude to
be that no one cares to suggest to the Common Council as to -whether thi s remedy shall
be accomplished by general taxation or through spe-cial assessments but that they woul,
abide by whatever procedurepthe Common Council might decide to pursue*

status as a coal dealer,, it was decided that his case could be covered by him taking
out a transient dealer's license, at which he orally withdrew the said application

that permission be granted.
George W.' Huney asked that the Common Council recommetid to the Public
Utility Board that they purchase the privately owned water mains in Sunnyside
Additions and. motion by Postier second by Cook carried that the City Clerk be
instructed to draft a re*Solution accordingly.
John Knutzen asked that a sanitary sewer be constructed in Sixth Ave-
11nue Southeast running from Eighth Street Southeast to where it would be access-
ible to his property, and motion by Vook second by Kitzman carried that his
1petition be referred. to the Sewer and Water Committees with instructions that
they make report at the next meeting of this Common Councils

Alderman Cook introduced a resolution accepting the above mentioned bid
of the Fllis Votor Company for the furn�shing of lr' ton trupk at a Price of $2225,00
Fo 0. Re Rochestert Vinnesotaq, and fixing the' amount of the bond to be given by the
said contractor at the sum of $2250*00,, which was read.
Upon motion by Wright second by Cook that the said resolption be adopted
asread, and all voting in favor thereofq President Weeks declared the said resolu-

Alderman Adler introduced a resolution determining to adhere to all former
resdlutions in the matter of the construction of a sanitary sewer in the above

Alderman Wright Introduced a resolution accepting the .4bove mentioned bid

of Tm. C. Fraser and Son for the construction of a sanitary sewer in part of Eighth
�� 11 Avenue Southeast and.fixinj, the amount of the bond to be given by the said contractor
at the sum of $300,00P which was read.
Upon motion by Codk second by Wright that the said resolution be adopted as
readt ind all voting in favor thereofq President Weeks declared the said resolution

Alderman Kitzmanintroduced the following resolutiong which was read:
Be it resolved by the Common Council of the City of Rochesterl YInnesota:
That -the proposal of Olaf Weiberg to furnish all of the labor and materials
necessary for the making and doing of the re -papering, re -varnishing and re-paInting
of F_ part of the interior of the -,Cit$r TTall9 and the repairing and refinishing of
certain equipment within the City Halls according to the specifications for the said
improvements now on file in the office of the City Clerk of said Cityl, for the sum
of $460009, be and the said bid and proposal is hereby accepted,
The amoimt of the bond to be given by the said contractor is hereby fixed
at the sum of $500.00.

expenditures for labor from the General Pind. of $1049*71,, from the Street and
Alley Rind of $2452,82., from the Sewer Fund of $164*67, from the Bridge Fund of
$12,00 and from the Permanent Tmprovement Revolving Fund oif $20.63, was read,,
and motion by Kitzmen second by Adler carried that tht same be referred to the
Street and Alley Committeee
The report of the Clerk of the Municipal Court for the week ending
July 27th, 1925, showing criminal fines collected in the amount of 135,00, and
the report of the Clerk of the Municipal Court for the week ending August 3rds
1925, showing criminal fines collected. in the amount of $123-00, and vivil fees
received in the amount of $2960P were e4ch separately read, and motion by Cook
second by Adler carried that the same be referred tothe City Attorney.
The report of the City Treasurer for the month ending June 30th#1925,
showing $394*942-73 as being on hand# was readl, and motion by Cook second by

July 1925, showing building inspection fees collected in the amount of 02/4.00

A petition asking that a concrete curb -and gutter be constructed on
SiXth Street Southeast from Third Avenue to Fburth Avenue* signed by Fred Jor-

Adler second by Kitzman aarried that the said petitipn be referred to the Street
and Alley Committee.
A petition asking that Eleventh Avenue Southeast from Fourth Street
to Fifth Street be gradkd to an, established grrade, and to a width of fifty feet
