Roll Call: Present: Weeks,, Adler, BAch, Cook, Postier, Wright. Absent: Kitzmano r r f On motion bg Bach second by Wright the minutes of the meeting held on ' i October 5th, 1925, were approved. The local manager df the Interstate Power Company talked in promotion of an amendment to their franchise which *ill allow them to collect a mini- mum charge for their gas service, and asked that a 01.00 minimum charge be approved. • I -Alderman Kitzman - came in at this time and took his Chair: Motion by Postier second by Wright carried that the Chair appoint a, I , 1 Committee of three for investigation in the matter of allowing the interstate Power Company to make a minimum charge for their gas service. President Weeks announced that this was the -time and place fixed for II,a hearing on the .proposed construction of a sanitary sewer in part of Sixth Street Northwest and asked i:C there was -any person present who wished to be heard relative to the said proposed sanitary sewer. There was no person present who wished to be heard on any matter concerning the said proposed improvement. s President Weeks announced.that this -was the time and place fixed for a hearing on the levying of special assessments for the cost and expense -of the following improvements and asked if there was any person .present who wish- ed to be heard relative to either or any of them: A sanitary sewer in Sixth Avenue Southeast from the center of Eighth Street Southeast to a point 200 feet South of the cer;ter of Eighth Street Southeast; The grading of Ninth Avenue Northeast from Third Street Northeast to Fifth Street Northeast; Construction of curb and gutter on Sixth Street Southeast from Third Avenue Southeast to Fourth Avenue Southeast; The grading and paving of the North and South alley across Block 46 in Original Plat. There was no person present who wished to be heard in any matter con - either or any of. cerning/the said improvements. President Weeks mounted that this was the time and place fixed for. } a hearing on the levying of special assessments for the repair of sidewalks, and asked if there was any person present who wished to be heard. There was no person present who wished to be heard relative to the 483 levying of special assessments for the repair of sidewalks and the City Clerk report- ed that there had been no written objections,against the levying of:;such assessments, filed. Co Briese asked whey tt cost more per hundred square yards to sprinkle the Tarvia pavement on Broadway Street Iforth` than bhe it did to sprinkle the creosot- ed wood blocks on, Broadway -Street South, and.he was referred to the City Engineer. Council of the City bf Rochebter, Minnesotan ' a , Gentlemen: At a Special Meeting of the .Board of Education, held at the High School Building at 7430 P.M., Saturday, October loth, 1925, the following resolution was unanimously adopted: z BE IT RESOLVED, by the Board of Education of School District Number Eight (8) in Olmsted County, Minnesota, being the school district included in the limits of the City of Rochester, Olmsted County, Minnesota, that there be, and is, hereby levied upon all taxable property in said district a special school tax of Three hundred five thousand, three hundred sixty Dollars ($305,360.00)._ for the use of said district, and the clerk of `saidBoard of Education is hereby instructed to notify the Common Council of said bity of Rochester, Minnesota, and to request their approval.of the said tax levy in accordance with the provisions of the City Charter. Hammer appearing for John Ploof asked for further compensation for Mr. Ploof's injury while doing his official duty as a Patrolman, of said a City, Mr. Hammer making the statement that his client did not receive a proper physical examination , the report from which terminated the payment for his c compensation. As this matter had alreada been -referred to the City Attorney for his �.... consideration, no further action wab taken at this time. On motion by. Cook second by Wright the City Engineer was instructed to make plans, profiles, specifications and estimate of - cost for concrete abuttants for a foot bridge across the Zumbro River. from Third Avenue Southeast into Mayo Park. ]budget The general balance sheet; trial balance, unexpended/appropriation statement, etc., of the City of Rochester, Minne sot a, as at September 30th, -. . 1925, prepared by the City Clerk, were laid. before the Common Council, and on motion by Cook second by Bach the same were ardered placed on file. The balance sheet, income statements, etc., of the Public Utility Department as .at September 30th, 1925, prepared by the Secretary of the Public Utility Board were -laid before the Common bouncil and on motion by Cook second by Bach were ordered placed on file, the said income statements showing a net profit in the Light Department for the month of September 1925-, of $8051.21 and a total net profit in the Light Department' for'the six months. of this fiscal r year of $46,846.09, and a net profit in the Water Department for the month of September 1925, of $7591.94, and a total net profit in the Water Department for the six months of this fiscal year of 015,25-5.27. VA. Graen, that the Common Council attelid the Fourth Annual'Banquet of Co. C., 20$th Inf., Minnesota National Guard, which will be given at the Hotel Carlton Cafe, at 9;00 o'clock P.M., on the evening of Wednesday, October 28th, 1925, was read, and motion by Postier second -by Bach carried that the invitation be accepted and that the Common Council attend in a body. Motion by Codk second by Bach carried that the Mayor and City Clerk be authorized and directed to execute a memorandum of agreement .relative to tank wagon deliveries of gasoline b;r the Standard Oil Company during the month of October 1925, which 0111 provide for a discount of one-half a cent on gallons when it exceeds 1000 gallons and three -fourths cents when it exceeds 2000 gallons. Fund, and payment made to the Permanent Improvement ` Revolving Fund as cost for fill t aken from the Ninth Avenue -Northeast grading, Job 901, and used ' on the proposed State no spi- tal outlet sewer Job No. 851.. Alderman Cook introduced a resolution levying special assessments for the grading of Ninth Avenue Northeast frdm Third Street Northeast to Fifth Street Northeast, which was read. Upon motion by Wright second by Adler that the said resolution be adopted as read, and all voting in favor thereof, President Weeks declared the said resolution duly passed and adopted. Alderman Bach introduced a resolution appropriating $897,00from the Permanent Improvement Fund and ordering payment made to Zuehlke and Christoph- erson, as part payment on ,the contract for the construction of an admini stra-- tion building at the new Tourist'Park, which was- read. Upon motion by Bach second by Cook that the said resolution be adopt- 11- ed as read, and all voting in favor • thereof, President Weeks' declared the said resolution duly passed and adopted. Alderman Kitzman introduced a resolution establishing' a grade line for that part of Second Street Northeast between the East line of Second Ave- nue Northeast and the Zumbro River, which was read: Upon motion by Adler.,,,second by Bach that the said resolution be adopt- ed _ ed as read, and all voting in favor thereof, President Weeks declared the said resolution duly passed and adopted. r Alderman Kitzman introduced a resolution..fixing 2 o'clock P.MeI November 2nd, 1925, as the time for a hearing -on the proposed grading to an established grade line and to a widthoof 75 feet, of that part of Second Street Northeast between the East line of Second Avenue Northeast and the Zumbro River, and providing for, a public hearing .thereon, which was read. Upon motion by Cook second by Kitzman that the -said resolution be adopted as read, and all voting in favor thereof, President Weeks declared the said resolution duly passed and adopted. Alderman Postier introduced a resolution gradting permit to the Marriod Peoples' Club'to hold, .give and conduct public dances in the A.O.U.W.
