Rochester, Minnesota, held in the Council Chambers, in the City hall, in
said City on August 25th.1928. at 1:30 o'clock PIM
Meeting Called to order by Pretident Liddle,
Roll Call: Present: Liddle, Erickson, Hicks Miller Rommel
Schroeder. Absent: Lemmon.
The call for the special meeting was read; said meeting being called
for the purpose of action on the matter of the moving 'of the Rochester
Nurse's Home from the present location to the corner of Second Avenue
Southwest itnd 7ifth Street Southwest., and any other business that the said
Common Council,, might deem proper,
Aldermea. Erickson introduced an ordinance to amend Ondinance No, 3027

the same being an ordinance entitled"An.0rdinance to Provide for the
Licensing of House Movers., rroviding the Manner of moving buildings in the
fistreets
of the City of Rochester., and Regulating the Business of House
Moving", which was,given its first reading-,
Upon motion by Hicks, second by Erickson the rules were suspended
and the said ordinance was given its second reading.
Upon motion by Schroeder, second by Rommel the rules were suspended
and the said ordinance was given its third and final reading.
Upon motion by Erickson sEcond by Hicks that the said Ordinance
be adopted as read, and all voting in favor thereof, President Liddle declar.,
ed the said ordinance, duly passed and adopted,
Alderman Rommel introduced a resolution authorizing the Public Utility
Board to lay a water main in Third Avenue Southwest, between Sixth Street
Southwest and Seventh Street Southwest, which was read.
Upon motion by Rommel, Second by Miller, that the said resolution
be adopted as read, and all voting in favor thereof,, President Liddle
declared the said resolution duly passed and adopted.
Upon motion by Miller, second by Rommel, the sum of �141,20 was
appropriated from the Street and Alley Fund and it was ordered that the
same be paid to Fred S.-Brown, as compensation for injury during the
period July 19th.1928J. to August 15ths1928, inclusive,

Pear Sir:
At a recent conference with Mr. Rosenwald and Mr. Gladman, the Highway
Department has agreed that y)1500.00 be alloted for repairs on Third Avenue
Sou heast for which you may submit this office a bill in duplicates..
On Fourth Street Southeast, your bill in the amount of 'f')2641.48 is o.k'd.
and check will soon be in your hands.
On Second Street Southwest, the States yearly reimbursement to you in
the amount of A504.47 is being put thru for payment. This is the 1927 payment.
On North Broadway, the removal of sixteen raised crossings and resurfacing

of this street is also approved and upon completion of this work payment will
be made for the States proportionate part of cost not to exceed A)1123.78 upon
your billing this office in duplicate.

In the matter of resurfacing the five intersections on Broadway, the

State will be willing to stand their proportionate share of this expense, pro—
viding, -,,payment can be deferred until 1929. Billing for this can be made about
the 1st of April. We realize that these intersections are not in the best of

condition and should be repaired, but the maintenance budget of District Y0.12

for this year will not be able to meet the expense.

Treasurer in the distribution of the 1903 assessments for Revolving Fund Interest ,

Minnesota, tax levy accounts, received an overpayment of that amount with consequent

refundment of �`497.13 cash to the Revolving Fund Interest Account/�ransfer record of
4,402.87, charging the City of Rochester tax levy accounts and crediting Revolving
Fund interest to balance the above mentioned P1,000.00, and certificate by the said
County Auditor under the same date, showing abatements on the 1927., tax•.'levy totaling

¢141.'36, were each read, and upon motion by Rommel, second by Miller, the said 597.1

was accepted into the City Treasury for the Revolving Fund Interest Account, and

the City Clerk was authorized to adjust his tax records in accordance with the above
mentioned transfers and certificate of abatements;
The application of 0. E. ,McCoy, City Weighmaster and Custodian of the City
Hall, for a ten day vacation commencing about September ls�1928, was read, and upon

motion by Nicks, second by Erickson, the request was ,granted.
Upon motion by Erickson, second by Hicks, the City Engineer was
authorized to employ a time keeper for the sidewalk crews, whose work
wduld be the compilation of time and material costs.
Alderman Erickson made a motion, which was seconded by Alderman
Miller, that the City Engineer be instructed to repair the storm sewer
inlet at the intersection of Seventh Street Southwest and Sixth Avenue
Southwest, by raising and enlarging the manhole cover, and a motion by
Schroeder, second by Hicks, that the said motion relative to Seventh
Street Southwest and Sixth Avenue Southwest Storm sewer be amended to
include such improvement for the First Avenue northwest and Sixth Street
Northwest storm sewer, carried by all voting in favor thereof, and the
first, mentioned motion, as amended, was carried by all voting in favor
thereof.
