matter in regard to the said improvement.

11. J. Boyle, Division Superintendent of the Chica;�o &-'Northwestern
Railway Company, proposed a subway crossing under the Fi-rstAvenue TTortheast railroad
crossing, and give the information that the estimated cost for this improvement is

?n the discussion of Ifr. Poyles proposal the City Engineer offered
the information that this improvement would necessitate'a siphon for the

surface drainage sewer now crossing First, Avenue Northeast, and a re-
arrangement of the sanitary sewer grades in that, locality, Rnd the re-

Upon motion by beirmon, second by Hicks, the proposal above ou$lined
by Ear. Boyle, was referred to the City Engineer, the City attorney and the

Common'Council as a committee of thewhole, for further conference with. the
Chicago & Northwestern Railway Company officials and representatives, with
instructions that report thereon be made at a, meeting of this Common
Council which is to be held at 2:00 o'clock P.M... December 3rd,1928.
1f ` A Ir. Moore a:ttorrey for the Witte Transfer Company, appeared bela-
tive to the complaint that the said Company are using their heavy trailers
on newly imporv- : City streets, and conceded that th„ City of Rochester
�1 has full and absolute control in the government of truck traffic on its
�+ streets and offered the cooperation of his Company to the extent of

�^ agreeing to keep their trucks off from such streets as the City Engineer
might designate as being subject to damage by their traffic. He further
i
stated that it is the intention of his company to construct a large
terminal warehouse at which most of the large loads will be unloaded and
distributed with smaller trucks.
Upon motion by Schroeder, second by Lemmon, the City Ati,orney was
instructed to draw an ordinance regulating automobile truck traffic within
the City of Rochester , Minnesota.
This being the time and place fixed for the opening of bids for the
construction of a steel reinforced concrete bridge over Mayo Run in Sixth
Street South.,ast and Thirteenth Avenue Southeast, the following proposals
were opened and read:

A communication from the League of Minnesota Municipalities asking that
legislation which the City of Rochester, -Minnesota, is interested in be proposed uric
to November 15th,1928, if possible, so that the Legislative Committee may consider tI
same at their meetinf; November 16th 1928, was read, and President ILiddle ordered the
said communication filed.
Notice of claims for damages made by C. I. Peterson, of Preston, Zinnesota
in the amount of `'>500.00 for damage to his automobile through striking a "Slo'vr" sign
in S,.cond Street Southwest, and notice of claim for damages made by Mae E. Wilson,
of Preston, Minnesota, in the amount of :`%p5, 000. 00 for injury received in the above
mentioned automobile accident, were each read,,and upon motion by Hicks, second by

The recommendation of the Lighting Committee that street lights be
installed, one at the intersection of Sixth Avenue Southeast grid Twelfth Street
Southeast, and one at the intersection of Third Street Northeast and Fourteenth
11Avenue Northeast, one at the intersection of Second StreetNortheast and Fourteenth
Avenue Northeast, was rear?, and upon motion by Schroeder, second by Erie'cson, the
said recommendations were Accdpted, and the City Clerk was instructed to request of

the Public Utility Board that they make installations accordingly, and also that
street lights be installed, one at the intersection of Second Street Southeast, and
Fourteenth Avenue Southeast, and one on the pole on the West side of the alley east
of the City Hall next to the North sidewalk line on Third Street Southwest.
Aldermah:RomInel introduced a resolution granting Public dance permit
to the Sunshine Jolly Makers, for the Woodman Hall, November 6th,1928, and November
20th,1928, and fixing the fee at the sum of s10.00, which was read.
Upon motion by Erickson, second by Lemmon, that the said resolution be
adopted as read, and all voting in favor thereof, President Liddle declared the said
resolution duly passed and adopted.
Alderman Rommel introduced a resolution granting public dance permit to'
the Vetere.As of Foreign !'.Fars, for the Woodman Ha119 November 12th91528; and fixing th
fee at the sum of $5.00, which was read.

adopted as read, and all voting in favor thereof, President Liddle declared the said

Ormond and Fellr for the construction of a steel reinforced concrete
bridge over Mayo Run in Sixth Street Southeast, and Thirteenth Avenue
Southeast, and fixing the amount of the Bond to be given by the said
Contractor at the sun of $2490.009, which was read.
Upon motion by Miller, second by Hicks, that the said resolution
be adopted as read, and all voting in favor thereof, President Liddle
declared the said resolution duly passed and adopted.
Alderman Hicks introduced the following resolution, which was read,:
" Be it resolved,by the Common Council of the City of Rochester,

That the sidewalk along the West side of Eighth Averme Southwest
between Sixth Street Southwest and Ninth Street Southwest be constructed
along a line with the outside line thereof two feet eight inches (218")
inside the West -curb line of said Avenue; and that the sidewalk along
the North side of Eighth Street Northwest between 8th and 9th Ave.S.W.
be constructed with the South line thereof 2' 8" inside the North curb
line.
.Be it further resolved by said Common Council:
That all resolution s inconsistent herewith be and the same are
