Minutes of an adjourned regular meeting of the Common Council of the City

of Rochester, ARinnesotc, held in the Council Chambers, in the City Hall, in said i
City, at 7:30 o'clock P.M., November 21st,1928.

President Liddle being absent on account of the illness of himself, a
motion by Erickson, second by Miller; carried that Alderman Hicks act as President
Pro Tem; and according alderman Hicks took the Chair as President Pro Tem and called
the meeting to order.
Roll Call, Present: Erickson, Hicks, Lemmon, Miller, Rommel, Schroeder.
Absent: Liddle.
Upon motion by Miller, second by Rommel the minutes of the meetings held
On October 1st, and October 8th,1928, were approved.
The City Clerk, for President Liddle, reported that in an interview of

CommissiolM.,ave assurance that a - charter amendment fixing a two year term for i
the City Assessor, and a charter amendment making provision for the assessment of
ben6fits i,or the construction of ornamental lighting, would be before the meeting of
the Common Council to be held December 3rd,1928, Sor consequent action thereon.
E. M. Raetz, John P. Huyber and L. A. Kepp, representing the Business
Men's Association.in the matter of securing the funds for the placing of Christmas
decorations on local streets, requested an appropriation of $500.00 for the Public
Library and Post Office share in the costs for this work, and they were referred to
the previous ruling made by the City Attorney prohibiting expenditures from the
City Treasury for Christmas decorations.
The City Treasurer, Carl G. Schwarz, requested authority to employ a
typist for making: the returns of unpaid 1928 sprinkling assessments, and upon motion
by Lemmon, second by Schroeder, th br request was granted.
The following communication was read, and President Pro Tem Hicks
ordered that the same be placed on filet

Dear Sir: -
This is to inform you that at an open forum meeting of The
Rochester Commercial Club, held Tuesday evenin;�, November 20, with a
large representation present, it was voted to inform the city counbil
that those present were opposed to the project of providing a subway
under the Northwestern Railway tracks at First Avenue Northeast.

The report of the City Treasurer for the ending of October,1928s
showing $276,"52.84, as being on hand, was read, and ,President Pro Tem
Nicks ordered that the same be placed on file•
The report of the Health Officer for the City Farm for the month
of October,19289 showing receipts in the amount of $1208,889 disbursements
E in the amount of $2042,039 and a balance on hand in the amount of $2990*291,
was read, and President Pro Tem Hicks ordered that the same be placed on
file. .
