A Jli U `7inates of an adjourned regular meeting of the Common Council of the City of Rochester, Ulnwse"O held in the Council Chambers, in the City Hall, in said City, at 7:30 orolock P.M.,., on August 19th,1929. Meeting called to order by Pres iddnt ' Liddle Roll Call. Present: Liddle, Erickson, Hicks, Miller, Rommel, Schroeder, Vihstadt. Absent:. None.. Upon motion by Rommel, second by Schroeder the minutes of the meeting he'id on August 5th,1929, were approved. President Liddle announced this as being the time and place fixed for a hearing on the eonstru_otion'of a. curb and`gutter on Second Street Northwest, between the West line of Thirteenth Avenue'Noithwest', and 18 feet West of the East line of Sixteenth Avenue Northwest, .and asked if there was any person present who wished to be heard concerning this improvement. 'the proposal of the Columbia Products Company, The Minnesota' Refrigerating' Company, and C. B. Lyon and Brother, were each opened and read, each of said proposals being to furnish the said calcium chloride at '$29,25 per ton,' freight paid to Rochester ,Minnesota, and upon -agreement to throw,--J,. dice for the contract the award `gent to C. B. Lyon Brother. The report of the .Clerk 'of the-Munioipal Court for the week ending August 12th,1929, showing criminal- Pines collected $1680003, civil fees received $12.350 and court costs charged to Olmsted County $565, was read, and President Liddle referred the same to the City Attorney; Balance sheet, .•-iu,comeR"statements, etc.., of • the Public Utility Departments prepared by the Secretary ;of the Public utilitF-Board, as at July 31st,19291, were laid before the Common Council', and President Liddle ordered that the same be placed on file; -the said income statements showing a net profit in the Light Depart- ment for the month of July,19299 of $10975:72, and a net profit for the four months of this fiscal year of $57898.47, and a net profit in the Water Department for the month of July,l929, of $983;36, and for the four months of this fiscal year of $13039-,27;. no report for the Steam Heating Department being made. It appears that such excess traveling requires the milk inspector to spend a great deal of time on the road which could be better utilized in the performance of suehiduties within a smaller area. THEREFORE, be it resolved by the Common Council of the City of Rochester, Minnesota: That the said Cbmmon Council does hereby define the area of inspection to be covered by the said milk inspector to be within any point not more than ten miles by road from the corporate limits of the Vity of Rochester and the said milk inspector is hereby expressly prohibited from making any such inspections outside of the said area unless arrangements are made with the City of Rochester to pay for each mile traveled in excess of the ten mile limit at the rate of ten cents per mile', the said payments to be made on reports filed by the said milk inspector in the office of the City Clerk of said City and the producers of said milk or the pasteurizing plants shall agree in writing to pay forthe said mileage. at the above rate'.
