'of Rochester, Minnesota, held in the Council Chambers, in the City Hall, at { 7:30 oc lock P.M. on October 25th 1929 . Meeting called to order by President Liddle. Roll Call. This being the time and place fixed for the opening of proposals for the eonstrwtion of.a steel reinforced concrete bridge over Mayo Run, on Twelfth Aveme Southeast, the following proposals were ppened and read, Feller Brothers: Earth excavation11.00 per cubic yard, 1-2-4 concrete ♦ ,1- ,'. $20.00 per cubic yard, reinforcing steel A,.05; per pound, loose rock excavation $2 .50 per cubic yard �s,�d rock 2.50 solid rock 5.00 • p ; F 2 Francis Chase:" Earth excavation $1.50 per cubic yard, 1-2-4 concrete $21.00 per cubic yard, reinforcing steel $6.05 per pound. G..for a public dance permit at the National Guard Armory, Novembe k 2nd,1929, which was read, Balance sheet -income statements, etc.,, of the Public Utility � ,Y Departments �•.ri, :`. prepared by the Secretary of the Public Utility Board, as o:r September 30th,1929, were laid before the Common Council and President Liddle ordered that the same be K{ = placed on file; the net profit for the Light IDepartment during the month of § :3eptenber,1929, showing as 013164.97, and a total net profit for the six months of this fiscal year, of♦ $81,128.40, with the net profit for the Water Department for the month of SepLember,1929, showing as $13,018.52, and for the six .months of this fiscal year- a total net profit of $31,108.20; the net profit for the Steam Heating Department for the month of September,1929, being 129,27, and a net profit for the six months of $577,00, neither, of which ,last �ment�oned figures include interest on investment. Alderman Erickson introduced 4T)xe9olutidn .levying special assessments for the construction of sidewalks during 1929, whAch was read. Upon motion by Erickson, second by Schroeder, that .the said resolution be adopted as read, and all voting in favor thereof, President Liddle declared the said resolution duly passed and adopted. �a 02 Alderman Rommel introduced the following,resolution, which was read: "WHEREAS, There is the sum of $1124.84 on hand and ' in .the course_ of collection in the budget division of 'theSewer Fund for the 'purchase of a sewer cleaning machine, and WHEREAS, a good and proper sewer cleaning machine has already been purchased from the receipts of a tax bevy for the above mentioned purpose, and, this balance remains for which there is no further use; SO WHEREFORE, Be it resolved by the Common. Counoil of the City of Rochester, Minnesota: That t'he sum of $1124.84 be and the said -sdm is hereby appropriated from the budget division of the Sewer Fund for the purchase of a sewer cleaning 'machine, known as 'Code No.6, and it is ordered that the same be. paid to the budget division of the Sewer Fund .for the construction of surface drainage sewers, known as Code No.5. f The Mayor and the City Clerk are hereby authorized and directed to drew warrant upon the City Treasurer and make payment accordingly." Fuftd' for the purchase and operation of the automobile for the City Engineer of said City, and.. Alderman Rommel introduced a resolution accepting the above quoted proposal of Feller Brothers for the construction of a steel reinforced concrete- bridge across Mayo Run, on Twelfth Avenue Southeast, and fixing the amount of the bond to. be given by the said c aaitraetor at the sum of $1150.00, which was read. Upon motion by Erickson, second by Hicks, that. the said resolution be adopted ad read, and all voting in favor thereof, President Liddle declared the said resolutionr�duly�•pdesed'-and adopted. Upon. Mdtion,.rby =Hicks, second. by'Vihstadt, it was ordered that the certified,eheck"of:�the„;unsuccessful bidder for the above mentioned bridge be returned t o . him. Alderman Vihstedt introduced ,;the...:following,resolut ion, 'whidi was read: "WHEREAS, The Public Utility; Board of the City of Rochester, Minnesota, have made request that the Mayon and City Clerk .of said City be authorized and directed to execute a ninety dine (99) year lease with the Sisters of Saint Francis for the South one seventh (1/7) of forty; seven and one seventh (47 1/7) feet of Block 44, in Heed and McMahon's Addition of said City, together with as large a portion of the vacated Fourth Street Southwest adjoining as is necessary, which said lease is to be for the site for a proposed elevated water 'reservoir, which :said lease shall carry a provision that in return fhe City of Rochester,Minnesota, shall agree to lay, free of cost, a water main of sufficient size from the proposed reservoir to the West line of said premises, which shall be available for a connection with the property of the said! Sisters of Saint. Francis, and WHEREAS, The Common Council of the City of Rochester, Minnesota, deem it expedient and necessary that such a lease and agreement be made and entered into. Public Grounds committeep Common Council, City of Rochester Minnesota- Gentlemen: It having been made to appear that the roof of the City Hall is account of the construction thereof it would be impossible for any roofing contractor -to safely submit a bid for the repair of the roof and also that the delay occasioned by the time required in advertising for bids wouldcausegreat damage to the public interest and inasmuch as immediate e repairs must be made without delay, I, as Mayor of the City of Rochester, do hereby declare Grounds committee to imwediately-proceed with the re- al and to purchase any and all necessary material and employ all necessary labor for the making: of; suoh..,r,q,pairs,,4s..may:be found necessary -4V this 'time,:--.` G�T, Lemmon., Mayor.
