Chamber$,in the City Hall, in said City, at 7:30 o,' clock P.M'., on.- Deeenter 4th,1929. Meeting called to order by President-Liddle. Roll Calls, Present:. Liddle, Erickson, Hicks', Miller, Schroeder, Vihstadt. H. 0. Christensen, as head of the Commercial Club Committee on this matter, stated, that he was not ready t'o make a report at this time and that a short delay would allow his Committee to make complete investigation. John S., Reed, Julius J. Reiter, a Mra Emmerson for the carpenters' Union, Matt -Fitzpatrick, G. P. Gentling, S. 0, Sanderson, Walter Newsome, and the Vice President of the Trades & Labor Assembly, all advocated the early submission of a bond question in order`that the construction of a new central fire station will give winter ` work f or-: unemployed' persons : • Earle- Vine :favored tie reinoval` of the present firestation so as to r extend Broadway Street'Stouth and thereby relieve°the traffic situation at the inter- section of Fourth Street" a;ndBroadway Street; South. Rev. A. R: Ziek' favored the new site and the removal of the present fire station but did not favor the calling of a special election at this time on account or the costs which milght be absorbed,by putting the question into a primary or general election at some date in the near future, and proposed that if this specIdl_',eleetion is called; the school bond question which must ' come soon should be included with it, so as to at least save the cost of one special election. Alderman Rommel came in during the discussion and took his Chair. Upon motion by Erickson, second by Miller, the City Clerk was instructed to prepare proceedings calling a special election for January 7th,1930, for the purpose of voting on a 50,000,00 bond issue for the construction of a new central fire station and the wr@eking and removal of the present fire station, the said bonds to carry an interest rate of 411f per cent per annum,9nd to mature $5,000.00 each year beginning with December lst,1931, and ending with December 1st,1940, with the principal and interest thereon to be' payable at the office of th4 City Treasurer o said City.
