Minutes of a special meeting of the Common Council of 'the
;City of Rochester, Minnesota, held in the Council Chambers, in the City
.:Hall, in said City, at 10:00 o'clock A.M., on February 8th,1930.
Meeting called to order by President Liddle.
Roll Call. Present: Liddle, Erickson, Miller, Ronanel,
';Schroeder, Vihstadt. Absent: Hicks.
The call for the special meeting was read; the said meeting
:being called for the purpose of hearing report from the State Highway
Department, relative to the new bridge for the extended Broadway Street
-!South, and any other .business that the said Common Council, might deem
;;proper.
Representatives from the State Highway Department were before
.;the Common Council with a contour map showing the location of the proposed
!,bridge ofer the Zumbro River on the proposed exten-Vion of Broadway Street
!;South, which bridge will be of a 300 foot span with the North end thereof
,to be at approximately the South line of Seventh Street' Southeast, if
lextended and opened to that point,,,
The following copy of resolution req�iesting authority *Ss
;read, and President Liddle ordered that the same be placed on file:

"Be it and iz is hereby resolved by the Public Utility Board
of the City of Rochester,Minnesota that the 3-on. Common Council be and
is hereby requested to authorize the sand Board to enter into contract
with the American Cast <Iron Pipe ComparV of Birmingham,Alabama for the
furnishing to the said City of -

168 ft. of 12" Mono -cast Cent.Cast Ir cal Pipe C1.6497 per ft.
1200 ft. of 10" ditto - - - - - - - - - - _ _ @ 1.315 per ft,
36 ft, of 8" ditto - - - - - - - _ __ _ _ @ .979 per ft
2400 ft. of 6" ditto - - - - - - - _ - _ _ _ 6 .6863 per ft,

and approximately two tons of specials of above sizes at prices of $.0755-
0.0555 and $.0605 per pound; the total amount of the said contract
Approximating $4200400-said company being the lowest responsible bidder."
Alderman Miller introduced -the following resolution which
vas read:
"Be it resolved by the Common Council of the City of
Rochester, Minnesota:
That the Public gtility Board of said City be and the said
Board is hereby authorized to enter into contract with the American Cast
Ir un Pipe Company of Birmingham, Alabama, for the furnishing of the
following described cast iron pipe and fittings at an approximate cost of
$4200.00:
168 ft. of 12" Mono -cast Cent, Cast Ir ::n Pipe @ $1.6497 per ft,
1200ft. of10" ditto - - - - - - - - - -__ @ 1,315 per ft.
36 ft. of 8" ditto - - - - - - -- - - - _0 .979 per ft.
2400ft. of 6" ditto - - - - - - - - - -__ 0- .6863 per ft.
640 ft , of 4" ditto - - @ .4748 per ft.

Upon motion by Erickson, second by Vihstadt, that, the said resolution be

Iad opted as read, and all voting in favor thereof, President Liddle declared the said
resolution duly passed and adopted.
The following copy of a letter was read, and President Liddle ordered
that the same be placed on file:

Enclosed please find copy of my report, filed with the
City Council of Rochester, Minn., last evening. The report is self
explapat ory.
I am in hopes that friends of Mr. Kelly will persuade
him to resign, which seems to be the only way out, and would piaee
the council in a position to select the proper man for assessor,, and
thus pave the way for a new and equitable assessmenze
I shall be pleased to call on you in a few days and
discuss further this matter with youi. `

Upon motion by Miller, second by Vihstadt, the City Clerk was instructed
to have copies of Mr. Rasmussen's report made and that he furnish Mr .Kelly, the
City Assessor, with one of them, and also that he request Mr.K_elly, the City Assessor;

to be present at the meeting of this Common Council, which is to be held at 7:30
o' c loc K P .M. , on February 17th,1930.
Upon motion by Erickson, second by Rommel, Council adjourned.
