Minutes of a special meeting of the Common Council of the
City of Rochester, Minnesota, held in the Council Chambers, in the City
Hall, in said City, at 7: 30 of clock P.M,, , on Marsh 27th,1930.
M. eeting called to order by President Liddle.
Roll Call, Presett: Liddle, Erickson, Hicks, Miller,
Rommel, Vihstadt, Absent: Schroeder.

The call for the special meeting was read; said meeting
being celled for a conference with a represenkative of the State Highway
Department re: New Central Fire Stfttion location., and any other
business, that the said Common Council. might deem proper.

( Alderman Schroeder came in at this time and took his Chair.
Mr. Robbers of the Highway Departient, gave the inforraa*tion
that the Chicago Great Western Railroad Company and the Highway Department
have reached agreement In regard to the value and acquisition of the
lands necessary for the channel change of the Zumbro Fiver under the
proposed new bridge over Broadway Street South,
Alderman Vihstadt introduced the following resolution, which
was read:
"Yd�;REAS, the Commissioner of Highways ofthe State of
Minnesota is about to designate the location of trunk highway No, 7
through the City of Rochester as shown upon the plan which is presented
herewith and made a part hereof, and
! WHEREAS, said Commissioner of highways is desirous of
constructing and improving ,said trunk highway through said city and has

presented herewith and made a part of this resolution; and

WHEREAS, the construction and improvement of said trunk
;,'highway requires a change in the grade of the streets in said city along
;sand upon which said trunk highway passes, said change of grade being
;designated and shown on said plans, ar..d
WHFREAS, it is to the best interests of said city that said

trunk highway be constructed and improved through said city in accordance
with said plems and the standard Minnesota Highway Specifications and upon
the grade designated therein;
NOW,THEREFORE, FEE IT RESOLVED that said plans and. specifies-
;t ions for the construction and improvement of said trunk highway through
;;said city be and the same hereby are approved; and

;i BE IT Fi WFER RESOLVED., that said city hereby consents to the
:,change in grade of the streets along which said trunk highway passes,
:as designated and shown in said plans. "

Upon motion by Hicks, second by Erickson, that the said

,resolution be adopted as read, and all, voting in favor thereof, President
iddle declared the said resolution duly passed and adopted.

A copy of a letter written by the, Mayor to Honorable C. M. Babcock, Com-
issioner of Highways, relative to the location of the new Central Pire Station,
as presented ana President Liddle ordered. that the ea*9, be placed on file.
Upon motion by Hicks, second by Rommel, the City Clerk was instructed to
of ify John MCC, Miller, Architect, that if he is present at the meeting to
e held at 7:30 o'clock P.2:i., on March 31st,193O,'his plans, .profiles, specifications,
nd estimate of cost for the new Central Fire Station and for the wrecking and
emoval of the present central fire station, will be adopted at, that time.
Upon motion by Hicks, second by Vihstadt, the claims of Chester 8.
'e llows , $63.22 , and LuellA Tiernan $31020, were allowed, and it was ordered that
;he Mayor and City Clerk draw warrants from the General Fund in the City .Treasury
End make pa;tment accordingly.
, Upon motion by Schroeder, second by Erickson, the matter of the
settling ofthe fill over the heating service main at First Avenue Northwest,
ind First Street Northwest, was referred to the Street and Alley Committee and
the City Engineer.
The recommendation of the Lighting Committee that a street light be

installed at the intersection of Eighth Avenue Northwest and Ninth Street Northwest,
and also one at the intersection of Ninth Avenue Northwest and Ninth Street Northwest,;
was read , and upon. Imot-soh by Rommel,, second by Miller,, the Public Utility Board
were instructed to make installations accordingly.
