Minute§ of an adjourned regular meeting of the Common Council of the
City of Rochester, I'linnesota, held in the Council Chambers, in the City Hall, in
said City, at 7: 30 o'clock P1M., on April 16th,1930.
Meeting called to order by President Liddle.

the general contract in the construction,furnishing and equipment of a new central
fire station, the following proposals were opened and read:

President Liddle referred the matter of the wrecU'ing and removal of the

'present central fire station to the Fire Department Coiriaiittee, and the City Engineer,
;for their consideration and the Common Council's future action in the matter.

Upon motion by ITicks, second by Vihstadt, the City Attorney
was instructed to draft an o7di.nance which will make the supervision .of
the City Dumping Grounds conform with the provisions of the Charter of
this City.
The report of the Milk Inspector for the month of March,
1930, was read, and President, Liddle ordered that the same be placed on
file.
The application of Alvin M. Costello for a drivers license,
was read, and upon motion by Vihstadt, second by Erickson, license was
granted.
The application of (Krltion F. White .for license to sell Soft
drinks at 1119 ,Second Street Southwest,, was read, and upon motion by Rommel,
second by Miller, license was Franted.
The following appointriients by the Chief of ti�.e Fire

Upon motion by Rorimel, second by Dallman, the Mayor and
11 City Clerk were authorized and directed to execute warranty deed for the
so-called "School Block" lying between Fifteenth -Avenue Southwest, and
Sixteenth Avenue Southwest, and Sixth Street Southwest and Seventh
Street Southwest) in favor of Independent School District No.8.

Alderman Rommel introduced the following resolution, which was read:

Alderman Erickson introduced the following resolution,which was read:

and maturials, equipment, etc., necessary for the heating and plumbin,r_.; contract for

Upon motion by Rommel, second by Erickson, that the said

Requisition by the Health Officer upon Saint Mary's Hospital
for the isolation of Miss Alice; Hirsch, rooming at 311 Fourth Street
Southwest, diagnosed to be suffering from chickenpox, was read, and
President Liddle ordered that the same be placed on file.

We respectfully recommend that .a hearing be fixed
in the matter of the construction of curb and gutter orb Seventh.
Avenue Southwest, between the South line of Sixth Street
Southwest, and the North line of Eleventh Street, Southwest,at
which hearing arrangements should be made to fix the installments
so that the payment will not be a hardship to any one concerned in
the improvement.*

Estimate No. 1, showing the sum of �11160.90 as being due the
Columbia Products Compay-7 for the furnishing of 40 tons of calcium
chloride under contract, was read, and President, Liddle ordered that
the same be placed on file.,
Upon motion by Rommel, second by Erickson, the City Clerk
vas instructed to have 300 City Government booklets printed.

Upon motion by Hicks, second by Vihstadt, that the said resolution be
adopted as read, and all voting in favor thereof, President, Liddle declared the said
resolution duly passed and adopted.
Alder;iian Rommel introduced a resolution appropriating `'b1160090 from the
General Fund and ordering payment, made to Columbia Products Company for the furnish-
ing of 40 tons of calcium chloride under contract, which was read.
Upon motion by Erickson, second by Vihstadt, that the said resolution be
adopted as read, and all voting in favor thereof, President Liddle declared the
said resolution duly passed and adopted.
Alderman Hicks introduced the following resolution,whieh was read:

expedient and necessary that local public improvenionts, the cost and expense of which
shall be paid for by special assessments levied as provided by law, be Made in said
City of Rochester, 1ilinnesota, the said improvements being described as follo--as:

of Seventh Avenue Southwest, the South line of Sixth Street Southvest, and the
North line of Eleventh Street Southwest, which said concrete gutter to be 36 inches

That Second Avenue Yorthwest, from the Yorth line of Center
Street, West to the South line of Second Street Yorth.west, . be widened to a
width of 50 feet and that the strip between the present paving and the new
curb be paved with 7" one course concrete and that, a cement, concrete curb l
be constructed along the both sides of the paving so widened;

The construction of a combined concrete curb and gutter -Tong
both sides of Third Avenue Southwest between the South line of Center
Street West and the North line of Second Street Southwest, the said
concrete gutter shall be 36 inches wide, the said curb to be 6 inches
wide and set toa distance of 50 feet, between the inside faces; such
concrete curb and gutter as now might be in place to be reh�oved;
That Center Street East and West, from the West line of First
Avenue Southeast and Northeast, to the East line of Fourth Avenue South -
:,west and North,rrest, be widened to a, width of 54 feet, and that, the strip
between the present paving and the new curb be paved with. 7" one course
concrete and that a cement, concrete curb be constructed along the both
sides of the paving so widened;
That First, Street Southeast and First, Street Southwest, from ( '
the West line of First Avenue Southeast to the East line of Sixth Avenue
Southwest, be widened to a width of 54 feet, and that the strip between
the present paving and the new cure be pt.ved with 7" one course concrete
and that a cement concrete curb be constructed along the both sides of

the said improvement will be held at 2:00 O'clock P.M. on Mlay 5th,1930,
in the Council Chambers, in the City Hall, in said City, at which time and

The City Clerk is hereby ordered and directed to cause to be
published in the official newspaper of said City a notice to all interested
!,persons and parties of the time, place and purpose of said meeting and

Upon motion by Hicks, second by Vihstadt , that the said
! !jresolution be adopted as read, and all voting in favor thereof, President
, Liddle declared the said resolution duly passed and adopted.
Upon motion by Hicks, second by Erickson, the City Attorney
':.as instructed to draw a resolution authorizing the Public U',i lity Board

"to purchase and develope the O,ronoco dam site at a cost and expense not

;;favor thereof except Alderman Miller, who voted "Nay".
The official bond of Richard G. Nietz, as Patrolman, with the
iFidelity and Casualty Company as surety thereon in the amount of 414500.00,

Upon motion by Rommel, second by Erickson, Council adjourned to 7:30
o'clock P.M., on April 16th.,1930.
