City of Rochester, Minnesota, held in the Council Chambers in the City
Hall, in said City, at 1:30 o'clock P.M., on June 14t h,1930.
Meeting called to order by President Liddle.
Roll Call. Present: Liddle, Amundsen, Dallman,'Hicks, Miller,
Rommel, Vihstadt. Absent: None.
The call for the special meeting was read; said meetirv,f being
called for the purpose of emergency action on resurfacing of paving as the
result of storms on June 12th and 13th,1930, and any other business that
the said Common Council might deem proper.
The following recommendation was read and President Liddle
Ordered that the same be placed on file:

recommendation: That the parts of streets and avenues mentioned
be relaid with 21" No, 1 Paving Brick.

ij Alderman Hicks introduced a resolution appropriating $870.67 from the

General Pund and orderin payment made to the Columbia Products Company of Barberton.,
Ohio, for the furnishing of 30 tons calcium chloride shipped in B. 0. Car No.

ii Upon motion by Hicks, second by Dallman,that the said resolifftion be
as read, and all voting in favor President Liddle declared

j Alderman Miller introduced the following resolution, which was read:
"Wq'EREAS, The storms of June I2th and 13th, 1930, have greatly damaged

the paving on certain streets within the City of Rochester, Minnesota, and

i WHEREAS, It is deemed of public necessity that the said paving be i
immediately repaired, and
i
WHEREAS, It is deemed that the time required for advertisement for bids

for materials and labor to make these repairs would be of great damage to the publi e
;interest and of great danger to the public safety;
SO THEREFORE, Be it resolved by the Common Council of the City of

Rochester Minnesota:

That J. T, Lemmon, Mayor of said City, be and he is hereby respectfully

;requested to authorize the Department of the City Engineer of said City, to purchase
the necessary materials and employ the necessary labor and provide for the necessary
equipment, which is necessary for the repair of the paving on Center Street West,
'
from Broadway Street North and South to the West line of Second Avenue Northwest and
Southwest, the paving on the intersection of First Avenue Southwest and First Street
Southwest, the repair of the paving on Second Street Southwest, from Broadway Street
South to the alley nest West, the repair of the paving on theinterseetion of Broadway
Street North and Second Street Northwest and Northeast, and from that intersection to

C.G.W.R.R.CO, tracks, the repair of the paving on Second Street Southwest between
Twelfth Avenue Southwest and Fourteenth Avenue Southwest, and for the repair of the �-
paving on the intersection of Broadway Street South and Third Street Southwest and

Southeast, as provided for in Section 284 of the Charter of the City of Rochester,

Minnesota.
Upon motion by Flicks, second by Rommel, that the said resolution be

adopted as read, and all voting in favor thereof, President Liddle declared the said
resolution duly passed and adopted. j

Upon motion by Hicks, second by Miller, the sUm of $35,10 was. appropriated
'from the General Fund and it was ordered that the same be paid to Luella Tiernan

;for services as Stenographer and clerical worker in the office of the City Clerk in

;'connection with registration records, etc.
Upon motion by Hicks, second by Amundsen the City Clerk was authorized to
;'employ the necessary assistance for the making. of the registration transfers to
comply with the election district changes wh:L h are effeetiv,.W in the First Ward of said
;City on August 1st,1930, and also that Miss Lillian R. Sveom be granted a vacation of

one week during July 1930, and that the City Clerk be authorized to employ a substitute
;'stenographer during her vacation period.

'I Upon motion by Miller, second by Dallman, the City Engineer
was authorised to sell as many of the paving blocks from the streets that a
are to be resurfaced as.cari be spared,at �1.00 per cubic j►ard.
