Minutes of a Special meeting of the Common Council of the
City
of
Rochester, Minnesota, held in the Council
Chambers, in
the
second
floor
of
the Chamber of Commerbe building,in said
City, at 1:30
o'clock
P.M., on January 15th91932;
Meeting called to order by President Liddle.
Roll Call. Present: Liddle, Amundsen, Hicks, Miller,
Moody, Vihstadt. Absent: Dallman.
The call for the special meeting was read; the said meeting
being called for the purpose of considering the subject of adequately heat-
ing the new City Hall building while under construction, and any other
business that the said Common Council might deem proper.
Alderman Moody made the statement that he had conferred
with the general contractor on the new City Hall and had received assurance
from them that on and after ten days from this date they will assume the
re cue ived
heating costs for the building and; their refusal to be responsible for the
charges for heating to keep the building at a proper temperature"•during the
time that the plumbing contractors are making the tests on their installa-
tions, which testing.will.be completed before the expiration of the ten
day period mentioned. ,
-� Alderman Dallman came in at this time and took his Chair•
Upon motion by Moody, second by Amundsen, the Public Utili-
ty Board were requested to provide for the connection of steam heat to the
new City He.11 building and that the question of payment for this service
be left for the deci-,,ion of John MsG:Miller, Architect, after his return to
the.. City; all voting in favor thereof except Alderman Uallman, woo voted
"Nay".
Copy of summons and complaint in itbe tiatter . of Theodore 0.,
Johnson, Jebora E. Fairchild, Elizabeth Fairchild, Frances Fairchild,
Donald Johnson and Allen'Johnson, plaintiffs, versus City of Rochester,
Minnesota, in claim for $101,000.00 damages in connection with the removal of
the old fire station from a piece of land described: A piece of land describ
ed by metes and bounds as follows: Commencing at a point in the Center of the
Street known as Broadway in the City of Rochester, in said County, Seventy-
six (76) feet South of the South Line of College Street (now Fourth Street
Southwest) in said City, and running thenc a West parallel with the South
Line of said College Street (how Fourth Street Southwest) Twenty five (25)
feet, thence South parallel with the West line of Broadway nfr*Y Dix (56)
feet, thence East parallel with the South Line of said College Street (now
Fourth Street Southwest) Twenty Five (264 feet, thence North along the
center line of said Broadway Street to tle place of beginning, was read, and
President Liddle ordered that the same be placed on file. The interests of

the above mentioned plaintiffs being: Theodore 00 Johnson one fourth (1/4) thereof,
Jebora E. Fairchild one fourth (4) thereof, and Elizabeth FairchIld, Frances
Fairchild, Donald Johnson and. Allen Johnson each one eighth (1/8) thereof.
Upon motion by Hicks, second by Amundsen, this matter was referred
to the City Attorney with instructions that he defend the interests of the City of
Rochester, Minnesota.
