Minutes of a. special _meeting of the Common Council of the City of
Rochester, Minnesota, held in the Council Chambers in the City Hall in said City at
7: 30 o'clock P.M. on July 8th, 1932.
Meeting called to order by President Liddle:
Roll call: Present: Liddle, Amundsen, Dallman, Hicks, Miller;
Moody, Norton. Absent: None.
The call for he special meeting was read Said meeting being called
for the purpose of considering the employment of Burns & McDonnell Engineering Co.
for supervision, etc. of Natural Gas Distribution system construction, and any
other business that the said Common Council might deem proper*

The following was read, and President Liddle ordered that
the same be placed on filet

To the Hon. Mayor and Common Couneill
Rochester, Minn.
At 4k.;meeting of the Municipal Ownership League held July 6th, 19321, the question
of the employing of an Engineer to supervise the installation of tle Natural Gas
distribution system was discussed &uVA motion was made, and carried unaminously
that "The Common Council beftequested to employ Burns and McDonald to look after
the City interests in the installation of the Natural Gas Distribution System.

A motion by Miller, second by Amundsen, that the Burns & McDonnell
Engineering Co. proposal for engineering services in connection with the Natural
Gas distribution system construction be accepted, after omitting section three
thereof lost by the following vote:
Dallman, Moody, Norton, Liddle.
Ayes: Amundsen, Hicks, Miller. Nays:
John S. Reed asked that the Great White Way shows be licensed to
show their Carnival under the auspices of the Rochester Trades and Labor Assembly,
and upon motion by Dallman, second by Amundsen, the license was granted with the
fee to be in accordance with the Ordinance governing.
A Forestry Department for the City of Rochester, Minnesotatto
control the plantii:g, trinmiing, etc. of boulevard trees, was discussed and upon
motion by Miller, second by Moody, the Chair was requested to appoint a committee
to work with the Superintendent of the Electric Light Plarm, the Superintendent
of Parks, and the Manager of the Telephone Co. in the preparation of provisions
to create such a department, and President Liddle accordingly appointed the
Chairman of the Street ailed Alley Committee, the Chairman of the Public Grounds
Committee, H. J. Postier Of the Public Utility Board, and A. R• Nachreiner, President
of the Park Board as members of said Committee.

Upon motion by Norton, second by Moody$ the Common
Council adjourned.
