M, on July llth, 1932-0 i I ' Meeting called to order by President Liddle. Roll call: Present Liddle, Amundsen, Dallmah, Hicks, Miller, Moody, Norton: Absent: None: The application of the White City Club for a public dance permit at the Masonic Temple beginning Saturday, July 16th, 1932, and nightly thereafter except Sundays for a period of not less than two weeks, was read. Alderman Dallman introduced a resolution granting public dance permit to the White City Club for the Masonic Temple be inning July 16th, 1932, and nightly thereafter except Sundays for a period of dance nights, and fixing the fee at $39y00, which was read. Upon motion by Amundsen, second by Dallman, that the said resolution be adopted as read, and all voting in favor thereof, President Liddle declared the said resolution duly passed and adopted. Upon motion by Amundsen, second by Miller the Great White Way shows were granted a five-day carnival license under the Auspices of the Rochester Trade`s and Labor Assembly at a fee of $50:00 9 covering the period of July 12th, 1932toJuly 16th, 19329 inclusive: The report of the Health Officer for the City Farm for the month of June, 19329 showing receipts in the amount of $538.62, Disbursements $809.47, and an overdraft of $149:42, was read, and President Liddle ordered that the same be`placed on file4 The report of the Clerk of the Municipal Court for the week ending July 4th, 1932 aho*ing criminal fines c ullected $363400, Civil fees received $7.309 court costs charged to Olmsted County$8:70, an$ fines collected due to Olmsted County $95055, and for the'week ending July llth, 19329 show g criminal fines collected $217400, Civil fees received $4076, court costs charged to Olmsted County $29.859 and fines collected due to Olmsted County $50.95t were each read, and President Liddle ordered that the same be placed on file. The City Engineer's txial balame for 4isbursements in his i a department during June, 1932; was read, and President Liddle ordered that the same. be,,placed on file: 3 The application of Elton Arneson for Driver's License was read and upon motion by Dallman, second by Amundsen, the license was granted. The following proposal was read, and upon motion by Norton, second by Amundsen, definite action thereon was deferred until a later date: 50 "Rochester, Minnesota July 79 19324 r To the Hon. Mayor and Common Council. Rochester, Minn. ' Gentlemen: I -herewith "submit my proposal t0 act as field engineer during the construction of the Natural Gas distribution system, Agreeing to prepare a construction plan and profile of the system as the work progresses, showing the exact location of the pipeline together with the elevations of the - same, location of gates and fittings, for the sum of $175:00 per month. Respectfully submitted, John J. Kerr." A notice of filing of awards of Commissioners in the matter of condemnation of a sJt& for the new Post office, was read, and President Liddle ordered that the same bq placed .on file. The appointment by the Mayor of Jo-seph J. O'Connell as Special Patrolman for duty July 8th, 1932, to July 14th, 1932s inclusive, was read, and President Liddle ordered that the, same be placed on file. The application of Loretta Matzke, Health Office Steno- grapher, for a vacation the last week in July, 19329 was read, and upon motion by Hicks, second by Moody, the vacation was granted. The City Clerk offered the quotation of t :.e Post -Bulletin that they will print 300 copies of the Ordinance providing for the I licensing of hulk gasoline storage stations, filling stat -ons, and curb pumps, in 6x9 booklet fora for $16.55,p at which motion by Norton, i second by. Amundsen, carried thiLt the proposal be accepted. Upon motion by Norton, second by Amundsen,'!h106.64 was appropriated from the General Fund, and it was ordered that the said sum be paid to D. L. Williams, Postmaster, for postage stamps and stamped - R envelopes for the use of the City Clerk, 10 * 00 thereof, to be for 19000 one -cent stamps, and $98.64 Jro be for 3,000 three cent staipped envelopes. Final estimate by the Architect in favor of Standard Decorating Co„ showing $lali00 as be �.ng due on contract for painting and dec-Doating the new City Hall, and .final estimate in favor of L. Alderman Norton introduced a resolution appropriating $552.53 from the Park Improvement Fund, and ordering payment made to *yo Trust Fund for payroll for labor during the period of tie week ending July 8th, 19329 which was read., Upon motion by Amundsen, second by Hicks, that the said resolution be adopted as read, and all voting in favor thereof, President Liddle declared the said resolution duly passed and adopted. Alderman Norton introdueed a resolution appropriating `; 100900 from the New City Hall Fund and ordering payment made to L. A. Kepp Electric electric Co. as final payment on contract for wiring in the new City Hall* which was read. Upon motion by Norton, second by Moody, that the said resolution be adopted as read, and all voting in favor thereof, President Liddle declared the said resolution duly passed and adopted. The Mayor and City Clerk of said City are. hereby authorized andddirected to draw warrants upon t'h.e City Treasurer and make p����rellt accordingly." , Upon motion by Moody,: second by Amundsen, that the said resolution be adopted as read, and all voting in favor thereof,, President Liddle declared the. said resolution duly passed and adopted. Alderman Moody introduced the following resolution, which * was read: "ViFFREAS, the City of Rochester, Minnesota has entered into contract with Henry Grassle for the furnishing of gravel from a pit on his farm and "WHEREAS, the said gravel pit cannot be used until ex- tensive stripping of it has been done, SO THFREFORE, be it resolved by the Common Council of the City of Rochester, Minnesota: a That the City Engineer of said City be and he is hereby authorized to expend not to dxceed $499400 from the Street and Alley Fund of said City for the stripping of the said gravel pit." Upon motion by Amundsen, second by Miller, that the saV_ ' resolution be adopted as read, and all voting in favor thereof, President Liddle declared the said resolution duly passed and adopted. That the Chief o.f• the Fire Department use his aiscret ion in answering calls for assistance from outside the 11.mits. of the City. 2101 That a new Fire truck be purchased immediately. r3* ,That 17 new fire alerm.boxes be purchased to, replace those -now out of order and those needed for new loeationsi , • 4.
