HomeMy WebLinkAbout01-26-1933Minutes of a special meeting of the Common Council of the City of Rochester, Minnesota, held in the Council Chembers, in the City 11 Hall, at 7: 30 o'clock P.M.., on January 26th,1933. President Liddle being absent, motion by Moody, second t by Dallman appointed Alderman Hicks as President Pro Tem of .this meeting. President Pro Tem Hicks called the meeting to order. iller, Roll Call. Present: Amundsen, ballman, Hicks,/I'Aoody, Norton. Absent: Liddle. The call for the special meeting was read; s^,id meeting being called for the purpose of consideration of Senate File No.400, which is a rill for an act providing for the regulation by the St ate Tax I� Commission of expenditures, tax levies, and.accounts of counties, towns, school districts, cities, villages, and boroughs, and -amending Ifason's Minnesota Statutes of 1927, Sections 1984, 1986, 1990, 2 002 , 2012-2 , 2017, 2034, 2035, 20379 20489 20499 20509 20529 2054, 2057, 20589 21919 22839 22919 2330, 2353-3.1 23659 2366, and 23671, and any other business might j the said Common Council deem proper. Senate File No.400 was read and considered section by section. The application of Queen City Camp #16459 M.W.A. , for a public dance permit at the Woodman Hall, February 3rd,19339 was read. Alderman Moody introduced a resolution granting public dance permit to Queen City Camp ##16459 M.W.A., for the Woodman Hall, IIFebruary 3rd,19339 and fixing the fee at $3.00, which was read. Upon motion by Moody, second by Dallman, that the said resolution be adopted as read, and all voting in favor thereof, President Pro Tem Hicks declared the said resolution duly passed and adopted. Alderman Miller introduced a resolution appropriating $335475 from the Sewer Fund and ordering payment made to Dodge Lumber & i i i� Fuel Company for 91235# of Harrisburg coal furnished for use at the Sewage Disposal Plant, which was read. Upon motion by Amundsen, second by Miller, that the said I 11 resolution be adopted as read, and all voting in favor thereof, President ` Pro Tem Hicks declared the said resolution duly passed and adopted. The following communication was read, and President I Pro Tem Hicks ordered that the same be placed on file: " Jan - 240 1933 To the City Clerk this is to im form you that the City Watter Co. came down to my places and shut off the watter surPly so the people in 3 houses cant get watter or use the surage. thare is small Children and Wemen sick here they have no work or money to pay for nothing even enough to eat* 273 Will you pleas take action on this right a way. Saholt, plaintiff, versus City of Rochester, defendant, demandinf udgment for $3800000 with interest according to law thereon, together with the cost ,nd disbursements of the action,and complaint in W. A. ' Hutchins, plaintiff, versus !ity of Rochester, defendant, wherein he asks for judgment of $2660.00 with interest hereon according to law, together with his costs and disbursements in this action, ,ere each read, and President Pro Tem Hicks referred the same to th6 City Attorney.
