HomeMy WebLinkAbout03-01-193304 4 I 11 -1 "Minutes of a special meeting of the Common Council of the City of Rochester, Minnesota, held in the Council Chambers, in the City Hall, in said, City, at 1:30 o'clock P.M., on MP-rch lst,1933. Meeting celled to order by President Liddlu. Roll Call. Present: Liddle. Amundsen, Dellman, Hicks, Miller, Moodie, Norton. Absent: None. The call for the special meeting was read; said meeting being called for the purpose of action on the application of Lawrence E. Lysne for a house movers license, and any other i.:usiness that the said Common Council might deem proper. The application of Lawrence E. Lysne, for a house movers license, was read, and upon motion by Norton, second by ,'.Moody, license was granted. The house movers license bond of Lawrence' E. Lysne, with H.J'. Harwick, and H. A. Johnson, as sureties thereon, each in the amount of :T7,500.00 was read, and upon motion by Norton, second by Kick, the said sureties were accepted, the said bond was approved,and it was ordered that the same be placed on file. The application of Lawrence E. Lysne, for permit to move the dwelling house located at No.5 Third Avenue Southwest, from the said location to No.211 Fourth Avenue Northwest, over and across Block 29, in Original Plat,to Fourth Avenue Southwest and thence north along Fourth Avenue Southwest and Northwest, to Lot 3, in Dlock 55, in Original Plat, was read, and upon ;Notion by Hicks, second by Moody, permit was. granted. Upon motion by Miller,' second by 'Moody, the sum of `64.30, was appropriated from the Park Improvement Fund, and the sum of !'8.44 was appropriated from the general Fund, and it was ordered that said sums be IIpaid to John J. Fulkerson, County Treasurer for delinquent special assessments charged against the so-called Benike and Huey properties and on Silver Lake reservoir properties, for sprinkling and weed cutting. Alderman Norton introduced the following resolution, which was read: "Be it resolved by the Common Council of the City of Rochester, Minnesota: That the sum of 11,000.00 be and the said sum is hereby appro- priated from the General (Code 10) Fund of said City and ordered paid to City Farm Fund, for transfer of funds received by the sale of a certi- ficate of indebtedness February 23,1933, 305 a r:1 The Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized and directed to draw a warrant for said sum upon the City Treasurer in accordance herewith, and cause said payment to be made. " Upon motion by Norton, second by Hicks, that the said resolution be adopted as read, and all voting in favor thereof, President Liddle declared the said resolution duly passed and adopted. The City-�_Clerk-_announced that the application of Adolpr! Effengham for a House -,ivers license had been filed and asked if the Co:.1.:on Council wished to act on it at this time, upon which motion by Norton, second by Hicks, carried by all voting in favor thereof, that the said application be read and acted upon at this t i�ae . l!lhe application of Adolph Effengham for a house movers license was read, and upon motion by Norton, second by Hicks, license was granted commencing on tho. 24th day of Pabruary, 19339 and ending on the 23rd day of February, 1934. -i,The house movers license bond of Adolph Effengham, with E. C. Green;, and Wm. H. Friedell, as sureties thereon in a total of $7,500.001, was read, and upon motion by Norton, second by °Doody, the said sureties were accepted, the said bond was approved, and it was ordered that the same be placed on file. `..he applieation.of Adolph Effengham for permit to move the so-called Florence Hovel from its present location on Lot 1 in Block 29, in Original Pl,:it, to the east 90 feet of Lot 3 and the East 90 feet of the south 41 Feet of Lot 4, all in Block 16, Original Plat, the routing for which will be along Third Avenue Southwest, was read. 'he following remonstrance signed by 20 persons concerned, was read. and president Liddle ordered that the swine be placed on f ile : "This communication is addressed to you on behalf of the undersigned and other owners of real property in and adjacent to Blodk 16, Original Plat, and concerns the proposal of Viilliam Friedell to ;Hove his three story frame hotel from 21 Third Ave. SW, and along Third Avenue to a site in said block 16 fronting on said Third Avenue. Objections to such moving have been made and they are still urged. We are advised and understand that to lawfully accomplish the moving of any building; on a public :gray, both the owner and house mover shall first apply for permit. The applications must fully meet the requirements of the Ordinances. If the aprlications meet such standard the council may, in proper cases, issue such permits to the ociner and to the mover. We are advised that the said hotel is neither a first class or a second class buildin,rr under the specifications of the building code, and it appears that it can not be moved along Third Avenue to the proposed site without taking it into the fire 'limits of the city. So, we respectfully call attention to the restriction of the building code wherein it is provided that 'No building not of the first or second class shah':. be moved into the fire limits of said city.' " I F A motion by Moody, second by Amundsen, that the above mentioned building permit for Adolph Effengham be not granted, carried by n11 voting; in favor thereof.
