The c:.t.11 for the special meeting was rPAd; said meeting being; called for the purpose of establishing new curb .lines around the new post office property, that is, on Center Street West, First Street Southwest , Third Avenue Southwest., and Fourth Avenue Southwest, and any other blivi_ness that, the said Common Council mir_,ht deem proper. The following communication was read. and. Presideht Lidd.l.e ordered that the same be placed on file: "Rochesster, Minnesota May 89 1933 The Honorable Mayor. and Common Council City of Rochester Gentlemen: - on Saturday May Sth our Street and. Traffic Committee met with the Mayor L,nd several members of the Council and the Engineer on the new Federal Building to consider the vridenin; ; of streets bordering on the new site of this building. We were informed that the Government is to place c.ew curb all e.round this block and that if the streets were., to be widened it would-be wise to do so before this work is done 5.s it would save considerable money. After discussing the matter the committee visited the site and decided that Center Street, First Street S.W., T.h.ird. Avenue S.W., and Fourth Avenue S.W. adjoining this Property should all be widened to a width of fifty (50) feet, and that all electrical. wires in this area should be placed under ground. The report of the City Weighmaster for the month of April, 1933, showinrf weir7hing fees collected in the amount of $30.70 was read, and President Liddle refferred the same to the finance Committee. Alderman Amundsen introduced the following resolution, which was read: "BB IT RESOLVED, by the Common Council of the City of Rochester, Minnesota, that the width of the following named streets and avenues between the curb lines thereof are hereby fixed and set by said Common Council at the width in feet set opposite said street or a.veme, to -wit: lst Street, S.W., between 3rd Ave. and 4th Ave. S.W.. 50 feet Center Street, West, between 3rd Ave. and 4th .Ave. S.W. 50 feet Third Avenue, S*W* , between Center St.W. and 1st St. S.W. 50 feet FoL:�,th Avenue, S.W., between Center St. W. and Ist St.S.W. 50 feet The said above named widths being twenty-five (25) feet in width on both sides of the Cont'er lines of the above named streets and avenues amd the corners of the curb at all of the above named intersecting; _ttroet:.,, e;ad avenues are hereby set to be constructed to a radii of ten (10) feec , being one-fourth (4) part of a circle twenty. Upon motion by Miller, second by Moody, that the said resolution be, adopted as read, and all voting in favor thereof, President Liddle declared the said resolution duly passed and. adopted. Upon motion by Amundsen, second by Miller, that the said resolution by adopted as read, and all votin; in favor thereof, President Liddle declared the said resolution duly passed and adopted. Alderman Amundsen introduced a resolution appropriating 1540.02 from the Park Improvement Fund and ordering payment made to the Mayo Trust Fund for payrolls 'or labor during the period of the week ending May 5th91933, which was read. Upon motion by Hicks, second by Dallman, that the said resolu- tion be adopted as read, and all voting in favor thereof, President Liddle declared the said resolution duly passed and adopted. Upon motion by Hicks, second by Moody, the Chief of Police was aut,hotized to purchase a time clock for the traffic signals at a cost of $18.00, and he was also authorized to purchase new lamps for the traffic signals. The grades of the sewers on 3rd Ave. S' E. and 3rd St. S.E. from Broadway St. to 4th St. S.E. are less than the ordir_ary minimum graded and may require special attention to prevent accumulation of sewage solids in the pipe line.
