Roll Call. Present: Liddle, Amundsen, Dallman, Hicks, Miller, Moody, Dorton: Absent: None; i The Call for the special meeting was read; said meeting being called for the purpose of appropriating money for the Mayo Trust Pund (Park Board Payrolls) and discussing the coming Federal Public Works program, and any other business the said Common Council might deem proper. Alderman Amundsen introduced the following resolu- tion, which was read: "Be it resolved by the Common Council of the City of Rochester, Minnesota. That due to the absence of the City Clerk from this meeting of the said Common Council of said City, Miss Lillian R: Sveom is hereby appointed Acting City Clerk for this meeting, as provided for in Section 110 of the Charter of said City:" Upon motion by Norton, second by Dailman, that the said resolution be adopted as reed, and all voting in favor thereof, President Liddle declared the said resolution duly passed and adopted. Alderman Amundsen introduced a resolution appropriat- ing $133506 from the Park Improvement Fund and ordering payment made to the ayo Trust Fund for payrolls for labor during the period of the weeks ending November 10th919339 and November 17th,1933, which was read. Upon motion by Moody, second by Norton, that the said resolution be adopted as read, and all voting in favor thereof, President Liddle declared the said resolution duly passed and adopted. Julius J. Reiter, Mayor, and Att Nachreiner, President of the Park Board, opened the discussion of the possibility of securing approximately $929500*00 for Olmsted County from the Civil Works Admieistration, which money is to be used on a strictly works program, with the rate of pay to be $.55 per hour, and a 30 hour week. Oscar Ranson heading a committee and delegation from the local Chamber of Commerce, appeared before the Common Council, with request for assistance from the Council in lighting the streets for the Christmas holidays, something similar to the way it was done last year. Upon motion by Moody, second by Norton, it was ordered that a resolution be prepared authorizing the Public Utility Board to spend not to exceed $499.00 for street lighting during the month of E December, the same to be added to the 1934 budget for street lighting. 673 Upon motion by Anundsen, second by Hicks, the Chair was requested to appoint a committee from the Council to accompany the Board of Park Commissioners when they appear before the Board of County Commissioners on November 23rd, 19339 relative to the Civil Works Adninistration program, and President Liddle accordingly appointed the Public Grounds Committee, and any other members of the Council that can attend, as such committee for that purpose: 11 ,Upon motion by Moody, second by Hicks, the City Clerk was authorized and directed to file a set of plans and spealfIcations for the Fourth Street Southeast .bridge and for the Fourteenth Street Northwest bridge at the Builders it Rxchange in Minneapolis, and at the Builders Exchange at Saint Paul, Minnesota, at no cost to either of the said' Builde're $aehangeso I� Upon motion by Norton, second by Hicks, the City Engineer was instructed to prepare plans, profiles, specifications, and estimates of cost for the construction of the siphon section of the trunk line sanitary sewer in Third Street South Street Southeast , from Broadway/t o Third Avenue Southeast, and in Third Avenue South- east, from Third Street 'Southeast to Fourth Street Southeast; for the construction o a trunk line sanitary sewer in Broadway Street North and South, from Fourth Street Northeast to Third Street Southeast ; and for the construction of a trunk line sanitary sewer from Third Street Southeast to Sixth Street Southeast and Southwest. Upon motion by Hicks, second by Miller, the Common Council adjourned. - Acting City Clerk.
