Minutes of a special meeting of the Common Council of the City
of Rochester, Minnesota, held in the Council Chambers, in the City Hall, in said
City, at 5:00 o'clock P.M., on December 21st,1933..
Meeting 'called to order by President Liddlee,
Roll Call. Present: Liddle, Amundsen, Millet, Moody, Norton.
Absent: Dallman, Hicks.
The call for the special meeting was read; said meeting having
been called for the purpose of considering allowing Civil Works Administration
registrations, etc., tobe handled from the Women's 'Rest Room in the basement of the
City Hall, and any other business the said Common Council might deem proper.
Mayor Reiter explained to the Common Council that it -was the
desire of the Civil Works Administration for Olmsted County that registrations of
unemployed women be made at the City Hall as the Administration's quarters in the
Court House were too small, 'and that the Women's Rest Room in the basement of the City
Hall would be a suitable and desirable place for these registrations.
Mrs. George J. Allen, representing the Women's Civic League,

advised the Council that it was the desire of their organization to help in any/they
can the women in town who need it and that the Civic League was willing that the +;
Rest Room be used .for registrations of unemployed women and also for a sewing room
under the C.W.A. re-employment plan, if the Council were willing; she also asked if i

would be possible for the Civic League to use the Community Room for their regular

monthly meetings, which are held the first Tuesday in each month, should the Council
agree to allowing the Civil Works Administration the use of the Rest Room.
Upon motion by Amundsen, second by Norton, the Civil Works
Administration for Olmsted County was allowed the use of the Women's Rest Room for
registering the unemployed women of this City, and for a sewing room for work under
the C.W.A.plan, and the Civic League was granted the use of the Community Room on
the first Tuesday afternoon of each month for their regular meetings, and for any
executive or call meeting which they may have.
Alderman Hicks came in at this time and took his Chair.
The application of Ross V..Gordy for a public dance permit at the
Armory, December 26th,19339 was read:
Alderman Norton introduced a resolution granting public dance
permit to Ross V. Gordy for the Armory December 26th91933, and fixing the fee at
$3400,which was read.
Upon motion by Norton, second by Amundsen, that the said
resolution be adopted as read, and all voting in favor thereof, President Liddle
declared the said resolution duly passed and adopted.

Upon motion by Miller, second by Amundsen, the
actions of the Public Grounds Committee, and the Chief of Police, in securing
signs and designating parking spaces in the rear of the City :J.all were
approved; said spaces having been designated to the Light Plant truck,

Secretary of the Public Utility Board, Chief of Police, City Clerk, Municipal
Judge, and the City Engineer, with a space to be marked at the curb on the
south side of theCity Hall for the City Assessor.
Council adjourned.
Upon motion by Norton, second by Amundsen, the Common
Deputy City Clerk.
