Meeting called to order by President Liddle: Roll Call. Present: Liddle, Amundsen, Fryer, Green, Lemmon, Miller,Moody. Absent: None: Upon motion by Moody pecond by Amundsen, the minutes of the meeting held on Saptember 24th,1934, were approved: President Liddle announced this as being the time and place fire for adjourned and continued hearing and action on the levying of special assessments for the construction of a sanitayy sewer in part of First Place Southeast and asked if ther* was any person present who wished to be heard: this improvement. " Alderman Moody introduced a resolution levying special assess - merits for the construction of a sanitary sewer in piiret.:P14ce Southeast from the center of Third Street Southeast to a point 60 feet north of the north line of Fourth Street Southeast, which was read. Upon motion by Miller second by Moody that the said resolution be adopted as read, and all voting in favor thereof,President Liddle declared the said resolution duly passed and adopted. Q WA WIN i The report of the Milk Inspector for the first half of the fiscal year and .for the month of September and the first nine days of October,19349 were each read, and President Liddle ordered that -the same be placed of file. The City Vngineer's trial balance for Reptember, 19349 was laid before the Common Council and Bresident Liddle ordered that the same be placed on file. The report of the'Clerk of the Municipal Court for the week ending October 31st1,1934 9 showing criminal fines collected $161.90 , civil fees received 080-75, conciliation court fees received 03.50, $85.15 received for Olmsted County August 1934 municipal court fees, court costs charged to Olmsted County $7.35, and fines collected due to Ol lsted County .1306009 and for the week ending October 8th,1934 , showing criminal fines collected $333.00, civil fees received P10.409 conciliation court I fees received $2.009 court costs charged to Olmsted County $1.15, and fines collected due to Olmsted County $1000,00 9 were each read and President Liddle referred the same to the City . Myrow, were read, and upon motion. by Amundsen econd by Green, the said license No.101 was transferr96d to M.J.Myrow, as s also Off Sale non -intoxicating melt liquor license No.177. 445 An assignment by Harold Dornack and Gertrude Dornack,his wife, to the Consumers Meat & Grocery Company, was read afld upon motion by Lemmon second by F.:yer it was accepted. The application of Mrs. Mabel Fountain, Public Health Nurs-6, for a ten day vacation beginning October 16th,1934, was read, and upon motion b-11, Miller second by Fryer, the request was granted. Upon motion by Moody second by Green the $25.20 appropriation made by the mayor and Ctty Clerk October 3rd,1934, to H. S.Blink, for 6 days services substituting for John J. Cook, Chief Operator at the Sewage Disposal Plant, was approved. The City Vlerk submitted a statement showing the sewage disposal plant operation costs October lst,1933 to September 30th91934, inclusive, which had a total. of $109455.43; 18,673.45.o- which belonged to the City of Rochester, `$1243.15 to the Rochester State Hospital, and 638.83 to Saint Mary' s Hospital. V The City Clerk reported the payment by the Franklin Reating Station of 1,100.90 as one half cent per thousand cubic feet on naturalgas used there during, September,19341. The following request for concession was read and upon motion by Amundsen second by Fryer it was granted as being an emer3ency, with the provision that thebailding mentioned shall be wrecked at the end of nine months from this date: " RO CHE STER GROCER COMT ANY Wholesale Grocers 209-211 North Broadway Rochester, Minn. Oct. 99 1934 The Building and Electrical Inspector and the Common Council of the j City of Ro chester Gent lemen: Due to the necessity of our vacating on short notice one of our warehouses, it becomes necessary for us to build a temporary one at once: The building is to be located near the Rochester Ice & Fuel Company's coal sheds on the C. & N. W. Railway tracks at Fifth Syreet and Second Avenue Northwest. It will be of sheet iron construction with a concrete floor+ It is our intention to use this building temporarily as no other suitable quarters are available. We ask the permission of you and your honorable body to carry out this building program, on a temporary permit for nine months4 No inflamable materials or goods will be stored there and no heating plant of any kind will be installed. ,Very truly yours, Rochester Grocer Co. Louis J.Claude, Chief Oct. loth 1934 To the Hon. Mayor and Common Council of the City of Rochester, Minn. Gentlemen , I -ish to make the following report on my trip to Washington, D.C. to atend'the meeting of the Internati.or_al Association of Chiefs of Police. I left Rochester Sept. 22 1934 at 8/30 Pm. Via the Northwestern Railroad. I arrived in Washington, D.C. Sept. 24th at 8/35 Am. The meetings were held at the Mayflower hotel, Starting at 9am and lasting til 1pm. The afternoons were spent in sightseeing trips around the city and thru Government buildings. I met Mayor Reiter and was with him t it he left Sat. Sept. 29th. I left Washington on Sunday Sept 30th and arrived in Rochester Monday at 8/13pm. I attended all of the meetings and believe that this trip was of a great benefit to me and will also help the entire Dept. May I at this time thank you Gentlemen for making this trip possible. Alderman Green introduced a resolution fixing 7:30 o'clock P.M., October 22nd,1934, as the time for hearing on the levying of special assess- ments for`the cost and expense of sidewalk repairs, which was read. Alderman Fryer introduced a resolution appropriating' $922.47 from the Park Improvement Fund and ordering payment made to Botsford Lumber Company for sand and gravel furnished, $579.85 t .� be for improvement of Soldier Field, and $342.62 to be for improvement of Cascade Park, which was read. Alderman Amundsen introduced the following resolution,which was read: "WHEREAS, The Common Council of the City Of Rochester, Minnesote has made special assessments for sprinkling streets in the said City during the season of the year,1934, which assessments are now before said Common Council; THEREFORE, Be it and it is hereby resolved by the said Vommon Council: That the said special assessments are hereby ordered filed in the office of the City Clerk of said City, for the inspection of all persons who may be interested in the same. Be it further resolved: That a public meeting of said Common Council will be held at 7:30 o'clock P:6M.1, on October 22nd, 1934,• in the Council i Chambers, in the City Hall, in said City, and at said time and place the Common Council will consider and act upon said assessments and each of them and will then and there hear any and all objections which persons or Parties interested in said assessments or either or any of them, may desire to make or offer thereto.
