Mrs-i George A llen was before the Common Council and stated that r she had leanred from different sources that the Common Council probably were about to abolish the office of Sdeial Welfare Worker, and as a rep- resentative oftthe Organization interested in and responsible for the establishment of this office, Mrs: Allen made the plea that the Common Council should -not abolish the office of Social Welfare Worker: A circilar letter from Ambrose TrIall er, Director bf the League of Minnesota Municipalities relative to TT.ouse 1 ile Number 435 was read, and President Liddle ordered that the same be placed on file4 The following copy of resolution passed and adopted by the Public Utility Board was read, and President Liddle ordered that the same be placed on file: "WHEREAS, under date of.._Deoember 29, 1934, the Public Utility Board of the City of Rochester, Minnesota, authorized the Secretary of the said Board to apply to the Federal Emergency Administration of Public Works 769 for a grant of 30 per cent ena,a Building Addition and Alterations to the. local 11ectrio Light Plant as detailed in plans and specifications and profiles, being sheets 1- 2; Land 3, prepared by Harold H. The report by the City Engineer on his attendance at the 40th Annual Convention of Minnesota Surveyens and Engineer's Society, held at the Lowry Hotel, St. Paul, Minnesota, February 21st and 22nd, 1935, was read, and President Liddle ordered that the" same be placed onf'f ile. The report vt",the Milk Inspector for the Month of March, and eight days in April, 1935, was read, and President Liddle ordered that the same be placed on file: The City Engineer's Trial Balance for the month of March, 1935, was read, and President Liddle ordered that the samb be placed on file. The report of C. H. Mayo, Health Officer, for the City Farm for the Month of March, 19359 showing receipts in the amount of $723473, and disbursements in the amount of $704,999, and a balance on hand of$1838413; also a statement of hogs showing 265 on hand March 1st, 1935, fifteen (15) sold March 23rd, 1935, seven (7) died, and 243 on hand April 1st, 19359 were each read, and President Liddle ordered that the same be placed on file. The City Clerk reported the receipt of a check for $7.42, drawn , by Julius J. Reiter, former Mayor, on the Union.NatiorAl Bank, and of his'. check for $58.34 drawn ,on the6;Olmsted County Bank & Trust Comparw, as return of unused Mayor's Contingent Fund, and also his check for $47.90, drawn on the Olmsted County Bank & Trust Company, which last mentioned check is for Mayor's ; Contingent Fund money which is tied up under Trust Agreement#, 2361, dated December 21st, 1931, witV the Olmsted County Bank & Trust Company as Trustee: Upon motion by Fryer, second by Moody, it was ordered than the checks for $7.42 bald $58.34 be taken into Code 7 oftuthe General Fund of the City of Rochester; and W. A. Moore, Mayor and Julius J. Reiter were authorized and directed to execute the assigrAent of the $44090 under the Trust Agreement. To the Common Council - City of Rochester, - Gentlemen: On behalf of the Rochester and Olmsted County Public Safety Coun- oil the following resolution, which was duly passed at the last regular meeting of the aforesaid Council, is respectfully submitted to your honorable body for consideration. RESOLUTION "WHEREAS We, the Ao chester and Olmsted County Public Safety Council, believe that the .`r 773 presence of bulk gasoline stations within the city -limits of Rochester.) Minnesota; constitutes a mallor fire hazard, and, WHEREAS, There is an ordinance in existance regulating the storage of bulk gasoline and inflammable liquids within said city limits, therefore, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED that this organization recommend to the Common Council of the City of Rochester that said ordinance be strictly enforced and be it further re- solved that the secretary of this organization transmit a copy_of,ssid resolution to the Common Council. G. W. R.R. Tracks in the City of Rochester, and the application of the Co -Operative Oil Company for a permit to install three 219000 gallon vertical storage tanks and to move the three 21;000 gallon and(2) ' two 179000 gallon tanks just west of the present' site, or on the site now the location of the C. G. W: ice house, were each read. The following persons were heard in the consideration of the above appli tionSforl-permits: Carl W. Bergfors, Arthur eoie, Allen F. Hall, Divisional Freight and Passenger Agent for the C. G. W. R.R. Company, C. E. Ginther, Fire Warden, and T.. F. Kennedy. A motion by Lemmon, sedond by Amundsen,, carried by all voting in favor thereof , that this Common Council ;go :,on record as not flavoring any more improvements, either repair or new construction on account of its being a fire hazard, on the Present sites of Oil Companies. Mrs. Mabel Mestad was before the Council and stated that she had been advised by good authority that the office of Police Woman is under Civil Service under the Police. Department, and requested an opportunity to go over the matter more carefully with the Aldermen, and President L•iddle referred the matter to the Chief of Police and the City Attorney and the Mayor. The application of Walter Schultz for "On -Sale" License to sell in- toxicating liquors at 313 First Avenue Southwest, was read, which application was accompanied with the following letter: 774 "Rochester, Minnesota April B. 19350 Honorable mayor and Common Council City of Rochester, Minnesota: Gentlemen • I hereby make application for "on sale" liquor license at No 313 �lst Ave, SOW0 , commonly knovfh as the Old Heidelburg. Attached hereto is my form application, bond, certificates and ,check in the sum of $' 5040 for a full year's license fee. I agree tra.t if the license is granted to me I will be the sole owner and operator of said business and that George Schultz will have no part in the ownership, ;management or operation thereof. I intend to operate the place in a perfect- !;ly legal and business -like mariner in every respect and shall be at all times 11 open to any investigation or inspection the officers desire to make. Nays: Lemmon, Moody. The "On sale" liquor license bond of Walter Schultz,, having sa "On Sale" Liquor License at 313 First Avenue Southwest , with the Seaboard Surety Company as surety thereon in the amount of $3-00006,00, was read, and upon motion by Lemmon, second by Amundsen, the surety thereon was accepted, - the said bond was approved, and it was ordered that the same be placed on file. The following communication was read, and President Liddle re- ferred the same to the Public Grounds Committee: " Apr'. 9t h 1935 To the Rochester City Council; - We hate been given to understand that there are certain bodies in Rochester who use the Community Room free of charge. Most of these bodies are much more able to pay than we, the workers of Rochester. Therefore we demand that we be given the use of the Community Room at a price in - proportion to the size of our incomes. We believe -that $I.00 would be about what we should be asked to pay. The application of Mike Peterson for a Plumber's .License was read, and upon motion by Moody, second by Richman, the license was granted. The Plumber's License Bond of Mike Peterson with the Fidelity and Casulaty. Company as surety thereon in the amount of $1,000.00, was read, and upon motion by Moody, second by Amundsen, the surety thereon was accepted, the said bond was ,approved, . and it was _ordered that the same be placed on file. The application of J. J. Fitzgerald for a Plumber's License was read, and Ripon motion by Green, second by Fryer; the license was granted. The Plumber's License Bond of J. J. Fitzgerald with the Fidelity and Casualty Company as surety thereon in the amount of $1,000.00 was read, and upon motion by Moody, second by AmundseV,,the surety thereon was accepted, the said bond was approved, and it was avdered that the same be placed on file.
