Rochester, Minnesota, held in the Council Chambers in the City Ball in said City
at',+ 7i00 O'clock P. M. On April 29th, 19359i
Upon motion by Lemmon second by Amundsen, and all voting in
favor thereof, Lillian R. Sveom was appointed Acting City Clerk for this meeting.
Meeting was called to order by President Liddleo
Roll .Call. Present:
Moody, Richman. Absent: None.
Li ddle, Amundsen, Fryer, Green; Lemmon;
The~ call for a special meeting, was read and President Lidc1le
ordered that the same be placed on file; said meeting having been culled for the
purpose of passing a Memorial Resolution for Mr. A. F. Wright and considering
applications for'.the office of City Clerk and any other business the said Common

Council might deem proper.

j Rochester:
i THfT INHEREAS, The City of Rochester in the death of Alba
I Franklin Wright; has suffered a loss in one of its most valuable
II and efficient servants.
Alba Franklin Wright was born :at Stewartville, Minnesota,
i' June 16, 1830. He was educated in the public schools at, Stewart-
ville and thereafter learned the printing trade. ' During the,
Spanish American War he enlisted in Company "F" 12th Minnesota
Infantry and served until the close of that conflict, receiving

un 1-flay 12, 1899 in the 18ta U.Liited States Infantry and served a
term in the Philippines from July 24, 1399 to September 16,1901*

After his service as a soldier he became an expert accountant.
On the first Monday of April, 1915, Mr. Wright was appointed
City Clerk by the Common Council of the City of Rochester,Minnesota,

which position he held continuously until his death on April 231 1935,
Mr. Wright, during all his service as City Clerk, was a con-

tinual student of Government and due to his wonderViAl ability adopted
many reforms to the great advantages to our system of government.
As the city grew he enlarged the departments of his office still
I� retaining the best known methods of bookkeeping, finance and filing

j as well as entering upon the books the minutes of the meetings, its
resolutions and ordinances in a molt efficient manner, and the City of
Rochester.has benefited greatly from his knowledge of finance, ac-

counting, Municipal Governmental Procedure and the conscientious,
continuous service given by Mrs Wright: As a public official
Mr. Wright was impartial, prompt $ hard-working c onsc ientfous ,
attentive to his duties and always looking f-or an impr ovgmebt a
He was kind and considerate to those working with him. While
he was conscious of the frailty and inexpwience of others, yet
he was always thoughtful and considerate with them.
During his whole career as City 'lerk, ?tr. Wright con-
sidered public office a public trust, and that his authority
and opportunities were to be used solely for the benefit of the
public. It *can truly be said that all his acts were the result
of wisdom, based upon human experience used for the benefit of
the people as a whole.
