MAY 13 1935 7 I I Minutes of an adjourned regular meeting of the Common Council of the City of Rochester, Minneseta, held in the Council Chambers in the City Hell in said City ' at 7: 30 o'clock P. M. on May 13, 1935: Meeting was called to order by President Liddle. Roll Call. Present: Liddle, Amundsen, Fryer, Gre-n, Lemmon, Moody abd Richman. On May 1st the Utility Board had "i�,'320,000.00 on hand i and the Library Board had $95,000.00 on hand. That is nearly 035,000.00 ; j rpore than is needed: 35 The members of the. The members of the Utility Board said at that time they had no money. If the present work program is carried out under P. W. A. there are i sufficient funds on hsnd to complete the job, j �i The Utility Board members say that a new Turbine is needed to cost $200 9000.00. By the time that is ordered and installed the Linht Plant will earn • 1250,000.00 Wby -should the City issue Bonds and pay Interest in order to a ! carry bid; balances in the banks on which the city receives a measly one- half of one per cent interest? ; Rochester's taxes are 20% less than Ste Paul or Minneapolis and other Cities iii our class - let us keep them down and aim for a City with- out Bonds by 1942 ! �I Come to the Council Meeting Monday night May 13th at 7:30 P.M. and demand that the City take advantage of P.W.A. funds. " j WHEREAS, the Public Utility Board of the City of Rochester, Miaxesota, under action taken by them April 26th, 1935, have asked that funds be created for proposed boiler installation at the Electric Light Plant in accordance with the following quoted communication: "CITY OF ROCHESTER, MINNESOTA DEPARTMENT 0 F PUBLIC UTILITIES April 27, 1935 Sinking Fund Commission City of Rochester; Minnesotan i Gent l amen: ' At a meeting of the Public Utility Board held on April 26th, I presented, a list of'bonds which are hold in the Sinking Fund for Light Department De- preciatiox Reserve with the suggestion that 'these bonds be sold to provide funds! for our proposed boiler installation. The bead market at the present time isexceptionally advantageous and a coadiderable profit could be realized on the sale of these bonds at this times The Public Utility Board did, tlpeerefore, pass a motion to the effect that the Sinking Fund Commission be requested to sell approximately $80,000,00 sale value, of bonds.
