President Liddle announced this as being the time sand place for
the opening of bids for -+-.h.e placing of. Bituminous treatment on the above
described streets ^nd avenues.

As The Barrett Company does not run a regular contracting, department
except in so far as the application of Tarvia is concerned; we beg to
submit the following alternate in response to your proposals for bids
to be opened at 2 P. M. Ju .ly 1st for furnishing bituminous treatment
for certain streets in your City q
We would be pleased to furnish and Apply the 11"arvia under the directions
of the city Engineer at a price of - - - - - - - - - - - - -$.1127 per
gallon.
The above price is for the Tarvia delivered in rochester, Minnesota in
8,000 gallons or 10,000 gallon tank cars and applied to the streets by
means of high class pressure distributors, Incidentally this price cove's
the -cost of heating the Tarvia and all 'tank car rental and demurrages
It is our custom where our Tarvia is used to offer expert assistance and
hearty co-operation while the work' -is going on. Where our own trues
make the application bd the Tarvia we naturally feel a certain responsi-
bility for the outcome of the completed job, and we wish to assure you
that should you care to consider our proposal we would furnish this co-
operation with the City officials or arty one with whom you may contract
to do the blading, mixing, rolling; etc%

An ordinnance regulating the opening and closing hours of Barber
Shops within the corporate limits of the City of Rochester, and providing
a ,penalty for the violation thereef, was given its third and final reading;

Gentlemen:
At a meeting of the Board of Park Commissioners held June 28;
19359 the following resolution was adopted:
Whereas the duties of the Secretary of the Boardof Park Com-
missioners are such as to require more time than can reasonably
be expected from a member of the Board:
And Whereas in the opinion of the Board of Park Commissioners
the Secretary should receive compensation for extraordinary
services:
Be it resolved that J. H. Starkey, Secretary of the Board of Park
Commissioners be paid as compensation for extra -services the sum
of $1040 per week from the date of his election as Secretary of the
Board.
Be dt farther resolved that the Common Council be respectfully, re-
quested to approve payment of the above stated compensation to the
Secretary of the Board of Park Commissioners.
We respectfully request thtt your Honorable Body approve this
resolution and authorize payment of $1000 per week to the Secretary
of the Board as compensation for extraordinary services.

efficient operation and tatension of sbdd plant; for the examination of the plans
and specifications now on file in the office of the Public Utility Board, of said'
