Meeting called to order by President Liddle:

Roll Call, Present: Liddle, Amundsen, Fryer, Green; Lemmon, Moody,
and Richman, Absent: None:
Two peititions opposing the proposed Bituminous Treatment and
1curbilig of streets were each read, and President Liddle ordered that the

your letter. Of September 4th at hand calling attention to the meeting of the
Common Council and requesting that our telephone poles etc., be removed in
the alley East of Broadway:

alley in question and surround-

territory in
that immediate vicinity is now
under con.;siderati:on and is
beinx worked out for under -ground distribution. Thvprogram has been under
consideration for some time but due to the large area involved in our general
plans there has been this delay.

The appointment by the Mayor of To V. Nagle as Special Policeman, for
duty at the Woodman Mall, he to serve without pay and to hold office uhtil the
first Monday in April 1936 unless sooner removed, was read, and President Liddle
ordered that the same be placed on file.
An amended deducted property damage endorsement for policy No. AC-76850,
covering the Jitney Bus operations of the Rochester Bus Inc., was presented to the
Common Council to be attached to the policy, and President Liddle referred the same

A notice of a special meeting of the Policy holders of the
Fardware Dealers Mutual Fire Insurance Company, to be held at Stevens Point,
Wisconsin, on the 16th day of October 19359 was read, andPresident Liddle
ordered that the same be placed on file:
A copy of Power of Attorney of Joseph H. Marshall or C. L.Williams
to execute bonds in behalf of the MassachVsetts Bonding Insurance Company,
together with the recraest of the said Bonding Company; that this Power of
Attorney be placed on file in the office of the City Clerk, were each read,
and President Liddle ordered that the same be placed on file;
The Mayor requested that the Common Council make definite ex-
pression of.their desires regarding further services by Charles Poster on
the boiler specifications, and upon motion by _Firyer second by Richman, and
all voting in favor thereof, the dity. Clerk w8e instructed to notify the
Public Utility Board authorizing them to go ahead with their plans and
specifications etc., for the new boiler -installation without the services
of Mr. Poster to the point where the plans and specifications are�eady for
advertisement for bids, at which time they shall be submitted to the Council
for consideration before advertisement for bids is made; and the City Clerk
accordingly addressed the Public Utility Board as follows:

The applications of Henry Foley for Public Dance Permit for the A. 0. U.
Hall September 4 and 149 1935, and of S. J: Wentworth for Public Dance Permit at the

The applications of Carl B. Winans, John J: Hayet, and A. 0 Sandet for
Drivers' Licenses were each read, and upon motion by Amundsen second by Green, lic-

The application of John H. Cooper for transfer of his "Off Sale" License
#187, to sell non -intoxicating malt liquors at 1123 Second Street Southwest to
cover at 1137 Second Street Southwest was read, and President Liddle referred the
same to the License Committee and the Chief of Police.
The application of the Yellow Cab Company for transfer of taxi cab
license #2 to cover a five -passenger LaSalle Sedan bearing state License #115-1039
was read, and upon motion by Amundsen second by Moody, the transfer was granted4

The City Engineer Khmitted'plans, specifications and .estimate of
cost for the construction of a Sanitary Sewer in Eleventh Street Northeast
from the center of First Avenue Northeast to a point 2.901 feet west, the ;
estimated cost being 1, 47100 0
Alderman Fryer introduced the following resolution which was read:
"WEREPUT; the Common Council of the City 9f Rochester, Minnesota,
at a meeting thereof held on September 23; 1935, after duo notice given
and hearing had as provided by law, dial duly pass and adopt a resolution
ordering 'that a sanitary sewer be constructed, commencing at the Center
of the intersection of Qrst Avenue Northeast and Eleventh Street North-
east in the City of Rochester, tc the center line of the alley running
north
and
south
through Blocks 35 and 36
in
the
Northern Addition to the
Town,
now
City
of Rochester, Minnesota,;
if
said
alley were extended

across Eleventh Street Northeast', and in said resolution directed the
City Engineer of said City to prepare and file in the office of the
City Clerk, detailed plans, profiles and specifications for the said
sanitary sewer and to make and report to said Common Council an estimate
of t,re cost and expense of said so,itary sewer and said City Engineer
pursuant to said directions did on September 23, 1935, file in the of-
fice of the City Clerk, of . said City, plans, profiles and specifications
for the said sanitary sewer and did report to the said Common Council an
estimate of the cost and expense of constructing the said sanitary sewer;

portion to the special benefits conferred by the said sanitary sewer,
respectively upon each said lct, piece and parcel of land.

Be it further resolved by the ,said Common Council: I
That a meeting of the said Common Council will be held at 2;,00 0' clock
P. M. on October 7, 1.9359 in the Council Chambers, in the City Fall in said City;
at which time all -persons intexeste4 in the said sanitary sewer m.Wy appear and
be heard before said Common Council in -relation to the said sewer or to the mode
of the assessment for the cost and expense thereof, or any other matter of
objection relating; to the said sewer upon which they may desire to be heard;
Be it further resolved by the said Common Council:
That the City Clerk of said City is hereby ordered and directed to pre-
pare a list which will contain a description of each and all of the properties
abutting upon the said sanitary sewer above described, and the names of. the
owners of the said prop-brties. so far as the same are known, rhich list, tor.*,etrer
with a notice of the time, place and purpose of the said meeting and hearing
above mentioned) shall causeto be published once in the official newspaper
of said City at least ten days prior. to the date of said meang and hearing. I
